The Indian cricket team’s unbeaten streak against Pakistan in World Cup matches has finally come to an end on Sunday. Babar Azam and his men registered a clinical victory of 10 wickets to outperform the opposition in all three aspects of the game.
Meanwhile, former India cricketer Virender Sehwag called out the people who were celebrating Pakistan’s victory while bursting crackers in India. He further said that why people always object to the fireworks during the times of Diwali only. Notably, many Indian cricketers, especially skipper Virat Kohli have been repeatedly saying no to crackers every year round the Diwali month.
“Firecrackers are banned during Diwali but yesterday in parts of India there were firecrackers to celebrate Pakistan‘s victory. Achha they must have been celebrating the victory of cricket. Toh, what’s the harm in fireworks on Diwali. Hypocrisy kyun, Saara gyaan tab hi yaad aata hai,” Virender Sehwag tweeted.
Pakistan thrash India by 10-wickets, maiden victory in WCs
Pak skipper won the all-important toss and opted to bowl first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Both the sides took the field with respective playing XI s on the expected lines.
Batting first, India lost both their openers – Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul inside the powerplay. Following this, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals before Kohl (57) and Rishabh Pant (39) helped their side steading the innings. As a result, the ‘Men in Blue’ could only manage to post a par-total of 151/7 on the board at the end of the 20 overs.
In reply, Pak openers Azam (68*) and Mohammad Rizwan (79*) produced marvellous batting performances to take their side home. All Indian bowlers looked clueless against Pak batters’ prowess as none of them was able to tick the wickets column. Hence, the Pakistani team registered their maiden WC win against India after losing five matches in the previous editions.
