Trackhouse Racing driver Ross Chastain is one of the most talented and promising drivers in the cup Series garage. He is infamous for being involved in incident on the track and getting under the skin of his rivals. Chastain evolve into this character once he started getting genuine shots at winning races since signing with Trackhosue in 2022.
Ross Chastain had the most recent incident of his career last Sunday at Sonoma where he spun out Kyle Busch on the final lap. NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. while discussing this incident highlighted the fact that, unlike what most believe, Chastain only gets involved in incident when he has a good car.

Ross isn’t the kind of guy that’s stirring the sh*t up no matter where he is in the field. And so, he’s only going to give you that sort of action that we tend to get from Ross when he has a car capable of doing something with and if his car isn’t what it needs to be, he doesn’t make waves which I think is a good thing.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said via Dale Jr. Download.
Junior believes this aspect of racing from his friend Chastain shows his maturity and as not getting involved with other drivers when one has a bad car is a good thing. The JRM boss seems really impressed with the fact.
It shows a sign of a bit of maturity. Like he realizes I don’t need to be the story every week. Especially when I’m running 20th and my sh*t sucks.Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. claims Ross Chastain wants control over narratives of incidents
Junior while further talking about Chastain’s character, highlighted that he is someone who knows exactly what happened about the incident he is part of, but would be selective while talking to the media about it. He reckons Chastain likes to have control over the narratives over incident he is part of.

Ross is a good racecar driver, and he knows exactly what happened. Ross is not really always that eager to be a media soundbite. I’ve had some conversations with Ross about coming into the podcast from time to time…the vibe that I get from Ross is he’s fine telling you what’s going on from his terms. He’s not gonna let it be on somebody else’s terms.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
The Hall of Famer has some good character description about the Trackhouse driver and he seems to be spot on with it. Chastain is a unique character on the garage who is capable pf attracting fans to the sport with his antics on and off the track. Hence it would be better for the sport to let him be more of himself.
