The NASCAR community lost one of its most beloved champions Ned Jarrett recently. He passed away at the age of 93 due to natural causes and leaving behind a legacy only a handful of racers can match. The two times Cup champion has won 50 races overall in his career and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011.
His racing legacy was further extended by his son Dale Jarrett, who won 1999 championship and 32 races, earning him HOF induction in 2014. The family has been silent about the death on social since the initial public statement and now the three times Daytona 500 champion has talked to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio about the legacy of the late racer.
We’re all so proud of dad and what he accomplished from driving cars, becoming a champion, everything that he had to go through. There was nothing easy back in the late 50s and 60s about being a stock car driver in the world of NASCAR.
Dale Jarrett said on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

"We're going to miss him but we had a lot of time with my dad and learned a lot of things."

Further talking about the point, Dale Jarrett asserted that his father’s racing career is unparallel considering his success came against the like of Richard Petty. If he hadn’t retired that early from the Cup Series, he would have ended up in the top 10 all-time winless legacy with a broader legacy that he has now.
It’s just phenomenal what he was able to accomplish. And at that time, he actually, when he retired, he actually had more championships, uh, two to one versus Richard Petty. And he actually, I think it was 50 to 44 wins at that time. So not saying he would have gone on and won a hundred or two hundred, but my dad was pretty good at what he did.
Dale Jarrett added.
Dale Jarrett is going to miss his dad big time
Earlier in the same conversation, he highlighted how many in the racing community doesn’t realize how early the veteran retired, considering some of his peers raced beyond 80’s and 90’s when he took the broadcasting route at the age of 34. He could’ve won more championship if not for that decision according to Dale Jarrett.

It was difficult, as dangerous as it could be, and my dad did that, and a lot of people don’t know unless you look back and realize that he was 34 years old when he retired from driving cars. He had won 50 races and two championships in the Cup Series…
Dale Jarrett said.
Further talking about the point, he admitted that the whole Jarrett family is going to miss the legend big time, as he was known for being a caring person. The veteran was known being one of the biggest gentlemen of the sport.
We’re going to miss him, but we had a lot of time with my dad and learned a lot of things: great love, great guidance, and support through the many years.
Dale Jarrett added.
The comments from the legendary racer about his father shows how much he loves and misses the late Cup champion. It would be interesting to see how the community and the family is going pays their tribute for the racing legend in the coming days.
