The first PPV event of 2025 in the UFC experienced significant last-minute changes. The main event fight was changed to a title clash featuring Islam Makhachev and Renato Moicano. This unexpected shift leaves Moicano’s previously scheduled opponent, Beneil Dariush, in a difficult position. However, UFC CEO Dana White has addressed this situation.

After Dana White announced that Renato Moicano would be promoted to the main event fight, several questions arose within the UFC community. Many were particularly concerned about how the promotion would address Beneil Dariush’s situation. In response to this buzz, Dariush himself spoke to the public, revealing how the UFC CEO made up for not including him in the UFC 311 fight.

It’s excellent, I can’t complain. They’re giving me both show and win money…I appreciate Dana, I appreciate the UFC, I appreciate Hunter. They didn’t pull anything back where I can complain.

The situation primarily arose after Islam Makhachev’s main event fight against Arman Tsarukyan experienced some changes. Specifically, Tsarukyan had to withdraw from the championship fight due to a back injury that worsened during his weight cut. Following this, UFC executives identified ‘Money’ Moicano as a suitable replacement for the Armenian fighter.

When discussing the relationship between Dariush and the UFC executives, the 35-year-old American fighter shares a strong camaraderie with them. Throughout the years, he has shown respect towards his opponents, embodying a gentlemanly persona similar to that of UFC Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre. As a result, Dariush was compensated for the sudden changes surrounding the UFC 311 PPV event.

Beneil Dariush gets an interesting callout hours after UFC 311 snub

Beneil Dariush is a veteran in the UFC lightweight division. Over his more than decade-long career, Dariush has faced several formidable opponents. However, his recent performance is concerning, as he is currently on a two-fight losing streak. Despite this, Dariush remains an interesting potential opponent for some fighters in the lightweight division.

One of his fellow lightweight competitors called out Dariush, which created some buzz. Several hours later, the American fighter was snubbed from his scheduled fight against Renato Moicano at UFC 311. Interestingly, this competitor is Mateusz Gamrot, a former rival of Dariush, who expressed his desire to fight him on social media.

I just got off the plane in Florida and I see this news… LFG @moicanoufc
@beneildariush give me a few weeks and let’s dance again.

Gamrot requested a few weeks to prepare for a possible rematch against Dariush. Interestingly, like the 35-year-old American fighter, the Polish fighter is also coming off a recent defeat. Gamrot faced a ‘revamped’ Dan Hooker at UFC 305 and lost by split decision, which ended his three-fight win streak in the promotion.
