Dana White must be extremely proud of UFC as the promotion just broke another Fight Night record. UFC St. Louis saw a massive crowd of 15,960 at the Enterprise Centre, earning a whopping $2,460,197 in live gate ticket sales. It was UFC’s first-ever visit to St. Louis since 2018. The success of the Fight Night broke UFC’s previous record of $2.45 million last year at the UFC Austin event.
The main event of UFC St. Louis featured a heavyweight fight between Rodrigo Nascimento and Derrick Lewis, a previous heavyweight title challenger. In that bout, Lewis stopped Nascimento in the third round to earn his 15th knockout victory as a UFC fighter. The KO shattered his own UFC knockout record. Lewis had a blast at the event and put on a show for the fans during his celebration. The fighter took off his shorts and mooned the audience.
In the co-main event, Joaquin Buckley defeated Nursulton Ruziboev via decision in a welterweight bout. With this win, Buckley has now gone 4-0 since dropping out of the middleweight division in May 2023. As a member of the UFC roster, it was Buckley’s first fight in his hometown of St. Louis.
UFC is currently on a roll after the humongous success of UFC 300. The iconic event got the attention of fans worldwide, and the promotion has shown signs of slowing down since then. The fight fans have also raised their expectations from the promotion after experiencing such incredible match-offs. In the future, UFC has even bigger plans for the fight fans.
Dana White reveals another feat for the record books
During the press conference at UFC St. Louis, Dana White provided a major update on the much-anticipated UFC 303. The UFC head honcho revealed that UFC 303 has broken all-time PPV records of the promotion. According to White, the earnings are already over $20 million.
UFC 303 includes the much-awaited return of former UFC double champion Conor McGregor after a hiatus of three years. Despite the doubts and potential ring rust, McGregor is pretty confident about his success at UFC 303. On the other hand, his opponent, Michael Chandler, has claimed he plans to get a knockout finish against McGregor.
The hype around the PPV event is massive and fans are excited to see the comeback fight of the ‘Notorious’. As White said, this card really has the potential to shatter all records in the world of combat sports. It would be interesting to see what the promotion plans are for the massive PPV.
