23XI Racing Bubba Wallace was fined a whopping $50,000 by NASCAR on last Wednesday. He was given the penalty for door slamming Alex Bowman during the cool-down lap at Chicago. The 23XI driver did it as a response to an early race run-in between the two. The sanctioning body fined Wallace, though it wasn’t a race incident, siting it was a dangerous situation as No:48 Car’s window net was down.

But this wasn’t the only cool-down lap run-in that happened on last Sunday. Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott bumped Trackhosue Racing’s Daniel Suarez. The No:9 Chevy driver did it as a response to the final corner clash between the two. Now the Mexican American driver has come forth addressing the situation after Bubba Wallace got fined.

Suarez urged NASCAR to more consistent with their decision making as the post-race clashes with the drivers have happened multiple time this season. It was the second such incident this season the No:99 Chevy driver has been part of as earlier this year at Richmond Martin Truex Jr. slammed him from the back after the race ended.

A lot of people have done similar things this year. The 19 (car of Martin Truex Jr.) did it in Richmond. In the past we have seen it several times. And it’s fine. If that’s going to be the fine, that’s fine, but it has to be consistent. And I think that NASCAR is trying their best to be consistent, but we’re not quite there yet.

Daniel Suarez explained how Chase Elliott excepted without a fine

He pointed out that the HMs driver got any without a penalty because he was focused and made moves when they make contact to avoid any incident. Suarez pointed out that if he wasn’t paying attention, Elliott would have been paying a huge sum as well.

He was trying to hit me under caution a few times but he never made contact with me. So it's a delicate situation because what happens if I wasn't paying attention and I was getting hit. He was going to get fined? Just because I was paying attention and didn't get hit, he's not getting a fine?
Daniel Suarez said.

The Trackhosue driver frustration is understandable as he has been in the receiving end of such hits twice tis year. If NASCAR wants to be consistent in the situation, they should use the Elliott and Wallace incidents as the new standard ging forward.
