Fans slam Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy for leading chants against Kyrie Irving at Boston Celtics championship parade

The Boston Celtics overcame the Dallas Mavericks to win the 2024 NBA Championship. Now, with title No. 18 in the bag, it was all about celebrating the occasion in the championship parade around the city of Boston. During the celebrations, Celtics superfan Dave Portnoy decided to lead a ‘F**k Kyrie’ chant. Seeing this, fans came out to slam the Barstool Sports founder for slandering Kyrie Irving again.

Dave Portnoy was in one of the famous amphibious Duck Boat’s. While leaning from the window, he started chanting, ‘F**k Kyrie!.’ Considering the Celtics beat their former superstar and his Dallas Mavericks fair and square en route to winning their 18th NBA title, it was deemed a bit unnecessary. After all, the Celtics were there to celebrate the occasion.

To bring Kyrie Irving to the forefront again was not required. Fans on the internet felt this, especially considering all the acts of hate they performed towards their former superstar during the NBA Finals. Moreover, even Irving tried his best to make peace with his former fans.

However, it was too late to try and win them back, especially when he had shown disdain for them in the past. The Boston Celtics won the NBA Finals 4-1. Even though they lost game 4 in Dallas, they handled business in the best way they knew back at home to clinch their 1st title in 16 years.

Fans lash out at Dave Portnoy for leading Kyrie Irving chants

Considering the accomplishment, fans wondered why Dave Portnoy had to go after the Dallas Mavericks superstar again. Celebrating the championship was the reason the parade was organized. To leave that out and focus on bringing hate again into the picture did not sit well with fans.

The celebrations for the Boston Celtics do not seem to fade any time soon. After all, they have worked hard over the years to build up to this moment. Fans feel it is a moment to celebrate instead of leading the hate angle.
