There has not been a fighter like Conor McGregor to grace the Octagon since the initiation of the UFC in 1993. The Irishman gained global popularity due to his impressive fights and ‘Notorious’ personality. McGregor turned his destiny around and built a multi-million dollar empire. However, former double champion turned commentator Daniel Cormier believes that McGregor’s success has spoiled him.
Cormier recently attended the ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast hosted by former American tight end Shannon Sharpe. DC spoke about various topics with Sharpe, both MMA-related and non-MMA-related. The conversation gradually diverted to the ‘Notorious One’. However, DC looked disappointed after the American tight end mentioned the Irishman.
Man, it’s over for him, this dude Conor McGregor, he’s tripping, he made way too much, he went from plumbing to he sold that liquor for what? $500 million? It’s too much.

$600 Million Changed Conor McGregor Says Daniel Cormier

Cormier further mentioned that McGregor earned around $100 million for his fight against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather. The crossover event was a revenue giant for both fighters, encompassing almost 4.3 million in pay-per-views.
Some believe the trajectory of the Irishman went downwards after that. McGregor was not the same after the fight; he recorded one win and three losses in his next four fights in the UFC after finally losing to Dustin Poirier due to a devastating leg injury at UFC 264 in 2021.
DC further spoke about how, after his last appearance at UFC 264, McGregor has teased a return multiple times. However, Cormier believed that these statements were nothing but efforts to “stay relevant”. Despite the criticism, the former champion also acknowledged the Irishman’s screen and ring presence, ability to sell a fight, and his ‘mystic’ fighting prowess.
DC has always been a vocal advocate for McGregor and had a cordial relationship with the Irishman. However, ever since McGregor’s absence from the fight game, there have been no recorded interactions between the two double champions. It remains to be seen if Cormier’s prediction concerning McGregor’s career shows true.
Daniel Cormier talks about Khabib Nurmagomedov getting mad at him for talking to Conor McGregor
The Khabib Nurmagomedov – Conor McGregor rivalry is one of the most serious and popular feuds in MMA history. Both fighters shared fiery moments and had immense hatred for each other. The build-up to the fight included everything, ranging from personal and religious insults to brawls outside the Octagon that had resulted in the police getting involved.

Cormier is very close to Nurmagomedov and shares a healthy relationship with the Dagestani legend’s team. However, DC recently revealed that he had come into heat after the ‘Eagle’ found out about his meeting with McGregor in Abu Dhabi in 2021.
This might be the only time this dude (Khabib) has been mad at me. I saw Conor McGregor one time in Abu Dhabi, I think it was Dustin Poirier. we are shaking hands, and we are talking a little bit, and we are very kind of chummy, and Khabib was like Brother, ‘I don’t understand this.’ I initially kind of fought it. But now I do this, I don’t try to request McGregor for interviews because Khabib’s not just a teammate, he’s family.

Nurmagomedov and Cormier’s friendship is one of the most genuine in MMA, formed through mutual respect, common principles, and years of training at American Kickboxing Academy. Their connection reflects the family-like culture at AKA and shows how training together can transcend cultural differences, careers, and even retirement.
Their friendship also illustrates how martial arts can foster brotherhoods that go well beyond competition. It has served as a reminder that the sport is about more than just fighting; it is also about loyalty, mentorship, and long-lasting bonds.
