DeAndre Hopkins took shots at former Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim. The star NFL wide receiver claimed that he lost more than $10 million due to an alleged contaminated drug test.

Hopkins called Keim by publishing a message in response to an Instagram post from Tony Robinson, a financial well-being influencer. In the comment section, Hopkins wrote that he was “set up” by Keim to do a drug test.

I got set up when I played for his team and lost 13 million. Skeme Slime was my GM, contaminated drug test go figure how that happened.

The incident Hopkins alluded to happened before the start of the 2022 NFL season. A drug test decided D-Hop’s fate. The NFL suspended Hopkins for the first six games. The Cardinals finished with a 4-13 record, and quarterback Kyler Murray suffered a torn ACL.

Hopkins was shocked to discover that he failed the drug test because he has since admitted that he’s very cautious about what he puts in his body. So, finding traces of Ostarine in his system confused him back then.

Hopkins’ comment on Robinson’s Instagram post has been deleted. He alleged to have lost $13 million, but Pro Football Talk at the time reported that Hopkins lost $5.2 million for missing six games.

Hopkins broke his silence a couple of days after police found the dead body of Mohamed Coulibaly in the pool of his house. Coulibaly was allegedly involved in an e-commerce business that swindled high-profile NFL players. Three players have accused Coulibaly of committing fraud. One of the athletes, a former Giants player, claimed he gave Coulibaly his entire life savings, expecting a sizeable return. However, he never received any payment.

He trusted Coulibaly after witnessing the people he was connected with. One of them, according to Barron, was Steve Keim. After spending a decade as an NFL GM, Keim later became an executive with Klutch Sports, the firm founded by superstar agent Rich Paul and is now part of United Talent Agency. Keim has yet to respond to the allegations.

Is DeAndre Hopkins still playing football?

Hopkins adopted a journeyman lifestyle after leaving the Houston Texans in 2019. He had stints with the Cardinals, the Tennessee Titans, the Kansas City Chiefs, and, more recently, started games for the Baltimore Ravens.

He caught 22 passes for 330 yards and scored a couple of touchdowns during the 2025 season with Baltimore. After the season ended, Hopkins became a free agent. He pitched a reunion with Kyler Murray after he signed with the Minnesota Vikings, but nothing has materialized yet.

I Haven’t retired from the NFL.

However, the 34-year-old has found a new purpose in life. During the offseason, he spent a few weeks learning the ropes as a coach with the New England Patriots. In July, he officially agreed to become the wide receivers coach of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

If you’re a WR and you want to be great, come to Georgia Tech.
