Saints fans were ecstatic after a strong start to the season, fueled by solid quarterback play from Derek Carr and a standout defense. This combination led to two impressive wins. Despite dropping the next three games, hope remains high that they’ll regain their early-season form.
With winnable games coming up, that hope was becoming stronger and stronger. But NFL Insider Mike Garafolo‘s latest tweet has thrown everything up in the air.
This is an update on the injury he suffered in the fourth quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs. Now with Derek Carr set to miss games, it throws the Saints season into disarray.
Sources to me and @RapSheet: #Saints QB Derek Carr is expected to miss multiple games with an oblique injury he suffered against the #Chiefs.

New Orleans has two games in the next nine days, and the likelihood is Carr misses Sun vs. the #Buccaneers and Thurs vs. the #Broncos. pic.twitter.com/njLCXJuSA6
The primary problem is as to who will take over the signal calling duties. That job should have gone to Tayson Hill. But the multiple position star is also out with a rib injury. This suggests the job will go to either second-year quarterback Jake Haener or rookie fifth-round pick Spencer Rattler.
The problem is that neither instill the confidence that Hill would have given the team or its fans. Taysom Hill knows the offense better than the two young signal callers. He could have been a stable option until Carr returns. But with either of the two young QBs set to start, fans are already fearing the worst.
Saints fans seemingly throw their towels in after Derek Carr’s news
Had Derek Carr played, they could have had a fighting to chance at least the next two games. With both at home, New Orleans Saints fans, as supportive as they are, would have rallied behind their team.
The Saints have favorable matchups until their Week 12 bye. That too four out of their six games are at home. It could have been the perfect setup for them to reach their bye with a winning record.
Fans know that the chances of that happening have just been stunted. They know even if Carr returns after two games, he might need some time to return to his early season form. Which is why they took to social media to vent their frustrations, examples of which are below;

If the footballing gods do shine some mercy on Saints fans, the four-time Pro-Bowler should be back after the next two games, fit and ready.
If not, they probably will be staring at another lost season. Their season now depends on their star QB’s health.
