Derrick Lewis and three others win Performance of the Night bonuses in a finish-laden night!
Derrick Lewis knocking Curtis Blaydes out
UFC Fight Night 185 saw a lot of knockout victories, especially in the prelims card. However, there were four performances which stood out, out of the 12 fights that took place. Derrick Lewis, Chris Daukaus, Tom Aspinall and Aiemann Zahabi, all won 50000 USD for the performance of the night. However, there was no fight of the night bonus awarded, despite a few fights lasting the stipulated rounds.
The main event saw Derrick ‘The Black Beast’ Lewis destroy number 2 ranked Heavyweight contender, Curtis Blaydes, with a vicious uppercut. With that knockout Lewis is now tied with Vitor Belfort for the most knockouts in the heavyweight division in UFC history, with 12. That uppercut guaranteed Derrick, 50K as a performance of the night bonus.
Night of the heavyweights!
Another heavyweight bout in the main card saw Chris Daukaus put on a clinic against the vastly experienced Aleksei Oleinik. Daukaus knocked out Oleinik in only the first round after landing a truckload of punches and elbows, which Oleinik couldn’t withstand.
It was quite a heavyweight fest in the UFC Fight Night 185, main card (winning a performance of the night bonus as well), as Tom Aspinall, the Brit submitted former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski, in only the second round, earning him 50K.
Finally, the prelims card which featured Faras Zahabi’s brother Aiemann Zahabi, saw the Canadian win the performance of the night bonus, with a big right hand flooring Drako Rodriguez, in a catchweight bout.
