Deshaun Watson reportedly set to miss the entire 2025 season due to Achilles injury, fans react – “Just retire with that 200 million”
After re-rupturing his Achilles injury during an end-of-the-season physical, Deshaun Watson is set to miss the entire 2025 season.

Deshaun Watson’s time in the NFL appears to be running out, as he has been confirmed to miss another NFL season, and this time, entirely. Since he tore his Achilles in late October, the quarterback has been on the injury reserve with his status uncertain for next season.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Friday that Watson underwent a surgery on Thursday, which brought along an upsetting news for the fans. He reportedly ruptured his Achilles and doctors have considered at least seven months of recovery but it may extend and could result in him potentially missing out the entire 2025 season.
“[Deshaun Watson] recovery time and return to play status is uncertain, and he will likely miss significant time during the 2025 season,” said the Browns in a public statement after the quarterback’s injury was confirmed.
The initial Achilles injury on October 20 last year may have ensured his return for the opening week of the 2025 season. However, he also went into an end-of-the-season physical, which further damaged his injury and blurred any glimmer of hope to return next season.

Watson met Thursday with Dr. Robert Anderson before undergoing the surgery.

If that occurs, his total number of missed games would rise to 38 out of 51 over a span of three years. That is particularly concerning, given the team is obligated to pay him $46 million in guaranteed money each year.
However, in the end-of-the-season press conference on Monday, the Cleveland Browns General Manager Andrew Berry confirmed the quarterback’s Achilles injury and stated that it would not majorly affect the team’s offseason strategy regarding the quarterback position. At present, they have three quarterbacks as the backup: Dorian Thompson-Robinson, Jameis Winston, and Bailey Zappe.
Fans react to Deshaun Watson likely to miss the entire 2025 season
Fans are heavily upset with this news about the Browns quarterback given he had just played for 19 games in his three years in the team. Last season also he missed eight games in total due to a serious shoulder injury. Before that, there were s*xual assault allegations that suspended him for 11 games.
One fan wrote, “Twin just retire with that 200 Mil,” while another joined in, writing, “Re ruptured it doing what? They are not playing or practicing.” Here are some of the fan reactions:

That’s a tough blow for Watson and the Browns. Injuries like this can have long-lasting impacts, not just on the player but on the team's season as well. Wishing him a speedy and full recovery.

This is a ruse – he restructured and now won’t see the field. League understands he’s a cancer and will keep him off the field for awhile, hopefully forever

He’s done. Been done for 3 years. Worst trade and contract of all time.

If this marks the reason behind Watson’s tenure end in Cleveland, they can use the high No. 2 overall projected draft pick to draft a potential franchise quarterback over Watson. Although he still has two years left in his contract, the franchise could rework his contract to adjust the salary cap.
