It’s no secret that Tua Tagovailoa can play the guitar. Amidst contract talks, the Miami Dolphins quarterback once again showcased that he can always fall back on music if he ever opts for a career change.
On Thursday night, Tagovailoa was in Florida at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. W. Palm Beach. Dolphins writer Josh Moser shared a video from the night in which the 26-year-old can be seen wearing a Hawaiian-themed Aloha shirt.
With a guitar in hand, Tagovailoa walked onto the stage and struck the A-chord to sing Bob Marley‘s famous ‘Three Little Birds.’ Colorful lights flashed in each direction in conjunction with the tune, creating a magical atmosphere.
While he was grooving on stage, it has to be said that the crowd was slightly bland. They should have joined in and formed a chorus after hearing such a vibe-inducing song.
Tua Tagovailoa’s love for creating magic with a guitar
This wasn’t the first time Tua Tagovailoa mesmerized everyone with his musical skills. Back in February, the Alabama graduate went to Las Vegas to enjoy musician Darius Rucker‘s performance. Since the Dolphins did not make it past the wild card, it wasn’t a surprise he was trying to take things easy.
However, to everyone’s surprise, Rucker asked Tua to join him on stage and play alongside him. Being a Dolphins fan for many years, Rucker was perhaps aware of the talent their quarterback has with the guitar. Arguably his most popular song, ‘Only Wanna Be With You‘, as part of the band Hootie & The Blowfish, has several hints about his love for the Miami team.
Even before that, in December last year, Tagovalioa joined Peyton and Eli Manning on ESPN’s Manning cast during the Jacksonville Jaguars vs. the Cincinnati Bengals. Per Peyton’s request, Tagovailoa picked up one of his three guitars and played an Eric Clapman classic, ‘Tears in Heaven.‘
While Tua is enjoying his offseason, at the back of his mind, he must be thinking about his future with the Dolphins. Even though 2023 had a disappointing ending, Tagovailoa recorded the best stats of his NFL career. He registered 388 completions for the league’s best 4624 passing yards and 29 touchdowns.
NBC Sports reported that he might ask for a hefty extension, somewhere close to Josh Allen‘s $43 million annual salary. Then again, the question is, will the Dolphins even pay him that, or would they think it’s too much and franchise tag him for the 2025 season for a ‘prove it’ year? It all comes down to how far he can take the team in 2024.
