Dominik Mysterio reveals WWE intentionally kept him away from Rhea Ripley ahead of Elimination Chamber 2024

Despite being a ‘heel’, Rhea Ripley is undoubtedly one of the most popular stars in wrestling. This year, the Eradicator made a life-long dream come true when she competed in front of her home crowd at Elimination Chamber. However, in the buildup to her match, Ripley seemingly distanced herself from Dominik Mysterio. As such, the latter recently revealed that this was done intentionally by the company.

Speaking with Comicbook Nation, the former NXT North American Champion acknowledged that he and Mami are polar opposites in regards to their popularities. Therefore, it made sense to keep Ripley away from him, as they wanted her to be cheered. The Judgment Day member squared off against Nia Jax at the PLE.

She was gonna get cheered in Australia and they wanted her to get cheered in Australia. At any point in time, if I was with her in Australia or leading up to it, she’d get booed. It’s crazy, right?

In the main event of the night, Rhea Ripley successfully defended her Women’s Championship against Jax. It didn’t take long for WWE to pair Dominik Mysterio back with his on-screen partner. Having said that, Ripley continued to receive huge reactions after Elimination Chamber. The 27-year-old would go on to face and defeat Becky Lynch at WrestleMania XL.

Unfortunately, this ended up being her final title defense. Weeks later, Ripley was forced to vacate her championship after suffering an injury at the hands of Liv Morgan. Needless to say, fans are eagerly anticipating Mami’s return as she prepares to come back faster and stronger. Meanwhile, Mysterio has kept himself busy amid his on-screen partner’s hiatus.

Dominik Mysterio ‘accidently’ helped Liv Morgan become Women’s World Champion

Since injuring Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan has embarked on a revenge tour. At King and Queen of the Ring, she accomplished her goal by defeating Becky Lynch to become the new Women’s World Champion. However, this wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Dominik Mysterio.

Dom had traveled all the way to Saudi Arabia for the sole purpose of ensuring Morgan wouldn’t walk out as champion. As such, he caused a distraction during the match by sliding in a steel chair for Lynch to use. Moments later, his plans came back to haunt him as Morgan took advantage by hitting a DDT on the chair.

While this has been portrayed as an accident, the WWE Universe believes that Mysterio is working in cahoots with Liv. In fact, fans caught the third-generation star red-handed after Morgan became the new champion. Therefore, only time will tell what lies in store for the duo and, more importantly, how Rhea Ripley reacts.
