Draymond Green vows to give Kobe Bryant treatment to Klay Thompson in Warriors vs Mavericks clash

Klay Thompson will don a Dallas Mavericks jersey as he takes on Draymond Green and Golden State Warriors this season

Fans entering Chase Center this upcoming NBA season know that there will be something different. Klay Thompson will be among the away players introduced by Golden State Warriors announcer Matt Pitman and he will face his former teammates Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

Thompson’s decision to leave the Golden State Warriors and sign with the Dallas Mavericks did leave his former teammates hurting. Green especially was vocal about the fact that his teammate of twelve seasons will no longer be suiting up alongside him anymore.

Fully aware of the situation, Sloane Knows Podcast host Sloane met Draymond Green at Chase Center and asked him how he would guard Klay Thompson. Green did not shy away from expressing himself.

I’m running through his chest. He’s my brother, but he not with us. He with the ops.

Draymond Green said

The reference to running ‘through his chest’ is from when Kobe Bryant bumped into Los Angeles Lakers teammate Pau Gasol at the 2008 Olympics. Bryant set his NBA allegiance aside when representing Team USA at the quadrennial event.

Similarly, Green made it clear that while Thompson was his brother, it does not mean he will not go at him at full speed on the court. Green can expect Thompson to do the same as well.

Draymond Green and Klay Thompson to clash on November 12

The trio of Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry were the most important faces of the Golden State Warriors. Now, even though they have split up, it does not diminish their desire to win the NBA title. While the Warriors are going into battle with a slightly restructured roster, they know that the onus will lie on Curry and Green to lead the team.

Thompson joined the Dallas Mavericks, last season’s NBA finalists, in a bid to win the title with them this year. The Mavericks have everything within their reach to make another run to the Finals. With the four-time champion in their starting lineup, they have now added another scoring option, something they sorely lacked during this past season.

But for that to happen, the early games will be crucial in finding team chemistry. The clash against the Warriors on November 12 will be their 11th game of the new season. It will be interesting to see how Thompson fares as opponents who might know his game better than anyone else in the league.
