Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will start their IPL 2020 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 21st September 2020 in a bid to claim their maiden IPL trophy. Having played 12 seasons so far, RCB is yet to win the elusive trophy.

They made some crucial inclusions in the auctions to bolster their squad for the upcoming edition. Australian skipper Aaron Finch will be seen opening for the side this year, while the franchise has acquired Chris Morris to deal with their death bowling woes.

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers will once again be the biggest bets for the franchise. Indian talents such as Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar and Navdeep Saini etc need to step up to the plate and showcase match-winning performances for the side.

Openers: Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch

Starting with Aaron Finch should be a no-brainer but who will he get the nod for the other slot would be a question. There have been talks that AB de Villiers is likely to keep wickets this season. In that case, Devdutt Padikkal would certainly be Finch’s opening partner.

Padikkal has done enough in the last couple of years in domestic cricket to make into RCB’s playing eleven. He should replace Parthiv for the opening slot for at least the first few games.

Middle-order: Virat Kohli at three, AB de Villiers at four

Just like previous editions, RCB’s stalwarts, Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers are expected to come all guns blazing in IPL 2020. They would be hoping to have stellar seasons with the bat.

All-rounders: Moeen Ali, Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube

For RCB to win, the middle order needs to fire right from the start. Both Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube have gained enough international exposure to performing in a tournament like IPL. Shivam Dube didn’t get too many opportunities last year. Both the players along with Moeen Ali holds the key for turning RCB’s fortunes this year.

Spinners: Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal will undoubtedly be the biggest bet for RCB in IPL 2020. It would be important for RCB to use the spinner wisely. His four overs are likely to prove the most important ones for the franchise this year.

Fast Bowlers: Chris Morris, Umesh Yadav and Navdeep Saini

In a bid to deal with their death bowling woes, RCB has acquired Chris Morris this year. Whether he would stand to the side’s expectations or not, only time will tell. Given the price they have shelled for the all-rounder, RCB is likely to start with him in the playing eleven. Apart from him, Umesh Yadav and Navdeep Saini should be the other two-seamers in the side.
