2024 has undeniably been Drew McIntyre‘s year, despite him becoming one of WWE’s most despised characters. He became World Heavyweight Champion by defeating Seth Rollins at WrestleMania XL and went on to conquer stars like Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. Nonetheless, his career has had disappointing moments, including his loss to Roman Reigns at Clash at the Castle in 2022.

In a conversation with Chris Van Vliet on the Insight podcast, Drew McIntyre opened up about why he called it one of the worst moments of his career. He suffered a loss to Roman Reigns due to interference from The Bloodline members and their newest addition, Solo Sikoa. The Scottish Warrior genuinely believed he should have won that night, especially in front of his entire family in his hometown.

The 40-year-old veteran understood the importance of Reigns’ character and suggested that Austin Theory, who was Mr. Money in the Bank at the time, could have cashed in his contract, allowing McIntyre to win the title without affecting Reigns’ momentum. Despite this, what hurt McIntyre the most was singing with Tyson Fury for the fans after his loss, which he described as the worst moment of his career.

This is ridiculous. We should have found a way out of this. [Austin] Theory could have cashed in, and I could have pinned him,’ because we had to protect The Bloodline and Roman at that time. The thing with Tyson Fury, that was stupid. There’s no excuse for that. That’s the worst moment in my entire career.

Nowadays, The Chosen One is embroiled in a rivalry with CM Punk, against whom he suffered a loss at Bash in Berlin. However, he quickly proved that the rivalry was far from over by brutally attacking The Second City Saint on the latest episode of Raw. It will be interesting to see where this rivalry goes from here.

Drew McIntyre gives clarification about storming out of the building when CM Punk returned at Survivor Series

CM Punk shocked the wrestling world when he returned to WWE after almost nine years. However, with his return, fans witnessed many different reactions from his fellow superstars, such as Seth Rollins, who couldn’t control his anger, and Drew McIntyre, who stormed out of the arena. McIntyre later explained his actions on a podcast.

In the same conversation with CVV, The Chosen One admitted that he was indeed angry after the match but didn’t want to cause any scenes at the time. The 40-year-old veteran even stated that he could have hit Punk if he had stayed there, which is why he chose to leave. McIntyre noted that he was happy he could leave the arena whenever he wanted to.

Yeah, I was pissed off, and I chose to leave the arena because I'm not going to cause an incident that's going to affect everybody's mood afterwards and the guys in the match that worked so hard. I couldn't have stood out there if somebody's that close to me that I don't like that much.

At Survivor Series: WarGames last year, his team lost to the team of Rhodes, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, Rollins, and Randy Orton, who also made his return that night. WWE turned his frustration into one of the greatest storylines fans have witnessed in this generation. The next chapter of the rivalry between both stars will unfold at the Bad Blood PLE next month.
