Cody Rhodes wasn’t on this week’s Raw in Birmingham, but his name came up in the opening segment of the show. He got mentioned by none other than Roman Reigns, who was trying to make a point regarding his current status in WWE without a Bloodline by his side and no championship around his waist. ‘The OTC’ affirmed that it’s something Rhodes had predicted almost 1.5 years ago.

The American Nightmare’s mention received a palpable jeering from the fans in attendance. Taking a jab at it, Drew McIntyre took to X and quoted a reply on a video clip by saying, “You’re really shocked the rest of the world want to see Homelander defeated? Come on…” ‘The Scottish Warrior’ managed to chip in a Homelander reference for Rhodes, as he’s been, at times, compared to the antagonist from The Boys.

While the former AEW EVP had to go for broke to oust Reigns for the world title at WrestleMania XL, Rhodes now has to defend it from McIntyre. The latter had already made it loud and clear that he’d be going after Rhodes if he regained the WWE title from John Cena at SummerSlam, which did happen.

McIntyre laid out ‘The Prodigal Son’ with a vicious Claymore kick through the foot of the commentary table a few weeks ago, and the champ has been out of action ever since then. It seems highly unlikely that the two of them will meet at Clash in Paris, as the PLE is this weekend and Rhodes has yet to make it back to TV.

Drew McIntyre got laid out by Randy Orton in surprise attack on SmackDown

SmackDown last Friday was held in Dublin and the way Drew McIntyre revealed his presence on the show was different but refreshing. He emerged at ringside by cutting off the commentators, and the Irish folks went bonkers for it. ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ proceeded on to deliver a medical update on Cody Rhodes, which said that the latter was a little bit*h.

The 6’5″ tall wrestler from Ayr then asked Rhodes to kick his wife from the bed and sleep with the WWE title and even click selfies with it, as he wouldn’t be able to keep the championship belt for long. ‘The Chosen One’ also addressed his assault on Rhodes and how no one backstage chastised him for doing so, as they all want to be in Rhodes’ position.

Shortly after that, Randy Orton popped in the background and was measuring the Scot up. Just when McIntyre turned around, he got dropped by an RKO. By the looks of it, the beef between these men is not over yet, and they might indulge in a conversation about who should challenge Rhodes next.

Could Drew McIntyre be John Cena’s last-ever WWE opponent?

John Cena will be wrestling Logan Paul this weekend at Clash in Paris. But after the PLE, he’d only be left with 8 dates on his ongoing farewell tour. It has already been confirmed that his last match will take place on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

While that’s still a long way to go, the early odds suggest that Drew McIntyre might end up opposing ‘The Cenation Leader’ on his final night as an active in-ring performer. ‘The Scottish Warrior’ recently rekindled his hope of taking on the 17-time world champion before he rides off into the sunset.

McIntyre told Daily Mirror Sports that he wanted to face that version of Cena, which the latter unleashed during his recently concluded SummerSlam showdown against Cody Rhodes. The Scot was impressed by the kind of resolve displayed by Cena no matter if he lost the WWE title. McIntyre and Cena recently wrestled in a tag team match on SmackDown that ended in a disqualification.
