The rivalry between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk is far from over, even after each scoring a victory over the other. Although The Second City Saint clarified his intention to leave the feud behind and focus on bigger and better things, McIntyre wasn’t ready to give up just yet and went on to destroy his arch-nemesis on Raw. The Scottish Warrior detailed when his feud with Punk would end.
While speaking with Sam Roberts on Not Sam Wrestling, Drew McIntyre stated that it was CM Punk who wanted to keep the rivalry going. The Chosen One revealed that the former world champion vowed to ensure he would never become a world champion again. He also thwarted McIntyre’s chances of becoming champion multiple times; one such incident occurred at the Money in the Bank PLE.
McIntyre even said they wouldn’t stop fighting until one of them either left the company or was no longer on the same brand. On the latest episode of Raw, Punk appeared in high spirits as he addressed the crowd about his victory at Bash in Berlin. He shifted his focus from McIntyre to Gunther, the man who defeated Randy Orton in the main event to retain his title.
I mean, I’m all for it. He said he won’t stop, and he’ll make sure that I’ll never be world champion, and I know that’s true, until he is officially out of WWE, so we’re gonna go until one of us is not in the company anymore, at least not on the same brand.Drew McIntyre on his rivalry with CM Punk via Not Sam Wrestling
By the end of the segment, McIntyre blindsided the former world champion, delivering four Claymore kicks that led to Punk being hospitalized. Additionally, McIntyre reclaimed the bracelet and attempted to force it down Punk’s throat. The two are expected to face off in a Hell in a Cell match at the Bad Blood PLE, making for an intriguing climax to their heated rivalry.
Drew McIntyre explained his origin of hatred for his arch nemesis CM Punk
McIntyre and Punk’s rivalry is filled with jealousy and anger, as he destroyed the latter and stood tall on Raw. The two stars have been feuding since The Sinister Scotsman injured his opponent and forced him out of action. However, their rivalry continued even when one of them was injured. The 40-year-old veteran revealed the origin of his hatred for him.
During the same interview, the 40-year-old veteran mentioned that, at one point, he liked his personality. However, McIntyre also admitted that since returning to the company, The Best in the World has become nothing more than a company yes-man. The Scottish Warrior further added that his arch-nemesis was simply jealous because he had taken his place.
He was the punk, he was the anti-superstar, he said whatever he wanted back in the day, and I admired that part of him, as much I didn’t like him. Now, he toes the company line, he kisses the company ar*e. I’ve started saying, ‘Go screw yourself, you deserve it now.’ Now I have become more Punk than CM Punk, and he hates that.Drew McIntyre on CM Punk via the Not Sam Wrestling podcast
The 40-year-old star admitted to being similar to what John Cena was back in his glory days. McIntyre revealed that he continued to smile even in places where he didn’t want to. He further added that the former World Champion couldn’t handle the fact that he was now more of an anti-hero than Punk once was.
