Social media and football X in particular has been witness to the heated debate as to who is the better player between Eden Hazard and Mohamed Salah. Both the Belgian and the Egyptian have an equal claim to being Premier League greats, with their exploits on the pitch speaking for themselves.

While Hazard left the Premier League in 2019 and ended up retiring in 2023, Salah is still tearing up the PL. In a recent interview, Hazard finally put an end to the debate as he himself declared the better player between the two.

What he did with Liverpool is like, wow! Mo Salah, by far (is the better player).

Hazard also spoke of how Chelsea brought him to the club and how good he was during his playing days at Basel. Even though Salah’s time at Chelsea is considered to be a failure by many, Hazard reminded that a footballer’s career is filled with ‘ups and downs’. Hazard managed to score an impressive 85 goals and set up another 54 in 245 appearances in the Premier League.

Fans react as Eden Hazard hails Mo Salah as the better player

Eden Hazard may have named Mohamed Salah as the better player in comparison to himself. However, his fans appeared to disagree as the debate continued on social media. A fan commented that Salah is a good friend of Hazard and that the latter was simply trying to be humble. Many singled out the ‘by far’ phrase and stated that Hazard was in fact, nowhere close to the Liverpool legend.

One argued that their longevity also matters and that Hazard was ‘washed’ by the time he joined Real Madrid. Others appeared to blame Real for ‘ruining’ his career. Chelsea fans laughed at how Hazard himself ruined years of debates and arguments simply because he wanted to be humble. Some acknowledged Hazard’s brilliance and said that Salah won’t be a better player simply because he scores more goals.

The Egyptian’s Premier League record is rather impressive too, having scored 161 times in 269 appearances. He has also picked up 73 assists during his time in the English top flight. Salah already has 4 goals and 4 assists in just 4 games this season and the way things are, Liverpool will be on fire for the rest of the season.
