After 6 tense games in the Premier League, Liverpool have finally ‘dethroned’ Manchester City to become table toppers. The Reds secured a hard-fought victory over Wolves at Molineux Stadium as goals from Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate secured the win on Saturday. Arne Slot‘s side also became the first team in the English top flight to pick up five wins this season.

Liverpool took the lead through their trusted center back Konate, whose leaping header was too powerful to Sam Johnstone to keep out. The header was also Konate’s first Premier League goal for Liverpool. The visitors then played themselves into trouble at the start of the second half, when failure to clear the ball resulted in Rayan Ait Nouri putting the ball in the back of the net.

Mohamed Salah then came to Liverpool’s rescue from the penalty spot. The referee awarded the Reds a penalty when Diogo Jota was brought down inside the area when attempting to attack a cross sent in by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Arne Slot thinks Liverpool have a lot to prove despite overtaking Man City to top PL table

It is safe to say that Liverpool’s new boss Arne Slot hasn’t done too bad when it comes to life after Jurgen Klopp. After almost 13 games in charge, several fans are convinced that Slot’s Liverpool may just be equipped enough to challenge for the title alongside Manchester City and Arsenal. After securing a very important win over Wolves, the Dutchman insisted that his side still have a lot left to prove.

Everyone is realistic. Six games into the season doesn’t give you a realistic view of the League table. We still have to prove that if we come across Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea and we can still be up there in the Champions League.

After several impressive performances in midfield, Dutch star Ryan Gravenberch is making a name for himself as one of the best midfielders in the competition. With 15 points from a possible 18, Liverpool are one point ahead of both Manchester City and Arsenal. With 12 goals scored in comparison to just two conceded, the Reds also have the best goal difference in the League.
