2021 Royal Rumble winner Edge had been teasing that he could go after any of the 3 top WWE Championships. He warned Drew McIntyre, Roman Reigns and Finn Balor about the same. Reigns and Balor hold the Universal and the NXT title respectively. McIntyre lost his title to the Miz at the Elimination Chamber.

But one of the most exciting moments of WWE Elimination Chamber was when Edge announced his opponent for Wrestlemania 37. He delivered a Spear to Roman Reigns and made it clear that he is coming after the Universal Championship.

Daniel Bryan won the Smackdown Elimination Chamber match, becoming the No.1 contender for the Universal title. Right after this match, the Universal Championship match took place, which Reigns managed to win.

While Reigns posed with the title, the Rated R Superstar appeared out of nowhere and delivered a brutal Spear. He pointed at the Wrestlemania sign as the fireworks went off.

The match between Roman Reigns and Edge has long been rumored. Other matches that are rumored for the 2-night event are Randy Orton vs. The Fiend and Sasha Banks vs. Bianca Belair. Reigns going against Edge is the first match that has been officially announced.

Interestingly, there were no reports on a match involving Drew McIntyre. The reason for the same is now clear. WWE was planning to take off the title from McIntyre. The Miz successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract, to win the Championship. With a new Champion on the Red brand, the road to Wrestlemania for the WWE Championship is yet to begin.
