Enes Sipovic signs with Kerala Blasters for the upcoming ISL 2021/22 season
Kerala Blasters have announced the signing of Bosnian defender Enes Sipovic for the upcoming ISL 2021/22 season. The central defender joins the Blasters on a one-year deal which will see him in the club until 2022.
The 30-year old was a part of Chennaiyin FC partnering Eli Sabia at the back and featured in 18 games for them in a disastrous campaign where they finished at the eighth spot.
Sipovic will become the first player from Bosnia to ply his trade for Kerala Blasters. The defender is also the second overseas signing by the Blasters after Adrian Luna for the forthcoming season.
Karolis Skinkys, Sporting Director of Kerala Blasters is delighted to have Sipovic in the squad and believes that the defender is reliable and would play a key role for the club in the upcoming season.
“Enes is a reliable defender, strong on set pieces and positioning. I know that he can adapt to Indian conditions very well and he is an excellent team player. He showed huge motivation to represent Kerala, so I’m happy and looking forward to working with him soon,” said Karolis Skinkys.
Enes Sipovic was also excited after signing with the Blasters and shared his excitement by stating that Kerala Blasters are one of the biggest clubs and he is looking forward to playing well for them.
“I am so excited to join one of the biggest clubs in India, with an army of amazing fans. I must say that my actions speak for myself, So on the field, I will be LOUD,” said Enes Sipovic.
Enes Sipovic’s previous stints
Enes Sipovic commenced his professional footballing career in his home country with FK Zeljeznicar’s youth academy. After spells with Romanian teams SC Otelul Galati, Petrolul Ploiesti, and Farul Constanta, he moved to Belgium to join KVC Westerlo.
In the latter parts of his career, he played in Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar before making his debut in India with Chennaiyin FC in the 2020-21 season. Over the course of 18 games, the defender clocked 1472 minutes for the Chennai-based club.
