Borussia Dortmund won a close fought match against Hoffenheim with a score line of 1-0. The match was heading for a draw until Haaland came from the Bench to set up the winner for Marco Reus. This win propelled Dortmund to third spot in the Bundesliga table, one behind Table Toppers Leipzig.
Haaland makes the difference
Lucian Favre dropped Haaland for the match to keep him fresh for the champions league tie against Lazio on Tuesday. However, Dortmund found it difficult to get going against Hoffenheim without a proper striker up front. The coach opted to play Brandt in a false nine role but he found it difficult to find any gaps in the defense. This prompted the coach to send Reus and Haaland from the bench and they duly combined to score the winner.
The game showed the importance of Haaland to Dortmund and his ability to hold up play and be the focal point in the team. All in all, Haaland has so far scored 4 goals and given 2 assists out of the 8 scored by Dortmund this season. He will hoping to continue this form against Lazio in the champions league too.
