Riot teases the next Valorant map with multiple tweets before the release
Players are at the cusp of the start of a new episode in Valorant. Riot Games gave the community a new controller agent, Harbor, and a brand new map, Pearl in the last episode. Additionally, the devs promised players to add maps and agents regularly during the course of an Episode.
In recent days, Valorant’s official Twitter handle has been posting some cryptic teasers which happens to be the clues for the upcoming ninth map. These unexpected revelations began on January 1 when Riot uploaded a stunning evening image. There isn’t much information available, but fans can guess that the new location is surrounded by colourful skyscrapers.
Under 24 hours of the first teaser, Valorant posted another sneak peak for new map. In this post, fans can see omen trimming what seems to be a bonsai tree inside a building.
From these posts, it seems like new map will be a night mode map. Fade’s speech line and night sky both indicates the same. Fade stands alone against a nighttime skyline of enormous structures and strange people. Riot Games might be breaking their unspoken norm and will add first of it’s kind map in game. It has been a long period of time since devs has a new competitive map in Valorant.
Riot Games developer Joe Lansford teased that map will have new mechanic. He stated,
“It’s gonna have a new mechanic. Erm, yeah, it’s not too wild. It’s not teleporters. But there will be a new mechanic. It’s going to be similar to another map in the pool. That’s all [I can say].”
Both posts contains a date, JAN//.05//.2023. Valorant fans might get a proper reveal trailer for the new map oncoming Thursday. Mike aka Valorleaks, who is a very reliable source also reported the same and also stated that map will be released on next Tuesday.

Few maps will be removed from Valorant map pool
It was informed earlier that devs will be removing both Bind and Breeze from the map pool and will be bringing back split in unrated and competitive modes in the new episode. When Pearl was released, devs removed split from map pool. They provided the reason for the doing this, stating,
“One of the most challenging aspects of a tactical shooter can be learning a new map. It is more difficult to advance from “learned” to “mastered.” There is a significant learning curve involved in doing it on numerous maps. Not to mention all the utility and Agent combinations. A lot of it! Simply told, having too many maps to learn can feel overwhelming and prevent some of you from really getting to know any one of them well.”
Now, Riot devs have mentioned,
“We feel like Breeze has some room to improve in terms of Agents and team comp diversity, as well as some opportunities for simplification of the space. And for Bind, it’s mostly about strategic diversity. We’d like to open up more play around the teleporters and potentially rethink how teams execute, and defend against executes, on both sites.”
It remains to be seen what new map brings us and how meta shifts with shake up in the map pool.
