Advanced Warfare 2 is apparently in the works

There has been a lot of news going around about Call of Duty’s next title, Modern Warfare 2, but what about other popular titles in the franchise? Fans will be elated to know that the next Call of Duty game is already in development. Reports suggest that Sledgehammer games is currently working on the next title in the franchise, called Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare 2.

It is well known that Sledgehammer Games’ previous title, Vanguard, didn’t live up to the expectations fans had hoped for, so the developer had to pitch new ideas. They chose a game they were familiar with that add new themes to Call of Duty editions alongside running and shooting.

Sledgehammer has decided to work on an upcoming Advanced Warfare game that would feature more futuristic tech-based gameplay. It looks like Advanced Warfare 2 won’t see the light of day until 2025. A popular Call of Duty leaker, TheGhostOfHope also tweeted to confirm this report.

Speaking of TheGhostOfHope, his latest tweet contains some interesting revelations about the future of Modern Warfare 2. He reported last month that Infinity Ward plans to release all of the 2009 Modern Warfare 2 maps together as post-launch content. According to his new tweet, these maps are actually coming.

These maps are reportedly coming to Modern Warfare 2 to celebrate Call of Duty’s 20th anniversary and will be dubbed the “Greatest Hits Map Pack.  A fascinating detail about this map is that it’s a paid Downloadable Content (DLC) released as post-launch content in the second year of MW2.

Players have different opinions about the information, and some are willing to pay a premium if it means better quality for iconic maps. Some people, however, feel that the iconic maps and additional content should be given for free as they are already paying a premium amount for the game. For now, players will have to wait and see what Activision has in store for them.
