The new Apex Legends season “Arsenal” launches on May 9, 2023, featuring a new legend, a number of new updates, and a new battle pass. Following all the backlash it faced in Season 16 due to issues like FOV bugs or DDOSers, Respawn seems to have put in all the effort to come back stronger for the new season.

Apex Legends recently launched the trailer showcasing the new season Arsenal and the new legend Ballistic. They had also released the trailer for the new legend Ballistic as part of their “Stories from the Outlands” series. August “Ballistic” Brinkman is the former Thunder Dome games champion and the newest addition to the Apex Legends legend roster.

His trailer reveals that he joined the Apex Games in place of his son, so that his son does not take the same path he did and end up like him. Although new to the Apex Games, Ballistic was a first celebrity of the Thunder Dome Games which were the predecessors of Apex Games. Ballistic was the first celebrity but his career in there did not last due to a tragedy. Due to his selfish playstyle he loses his teammate causing his legendary name to plummet and end his career.

Ballistic has a very powerful kit to help him have an equal footing with the younger legends in Apex Games. His passive allows him to carry up to 3 weapons. While his tactical ability is a ” Smart bullet” that overheats a weapon and damages the enemy when fired upon them. His ultimate ability is a weapon enhancer that gives him and his teammates infinite ammo, better movement speeds and quicker reload time.

Apex Legends Season 17 updates

Although Respawn has given very little details about the new updates other than one liners on their website, people have speculated many things through the Arsenal release trailer. With the history of Respawn teasing updates in its trailers, people have often speculated correctly.

Some of the updates that Respawn has announced:

  1. Map updates – Respawn has announced on their website that the map World’s edge is getting an update. Fans have speculated that either the POI Fragment would be getting a revamp or a new POI altogether is going to be released.
  2. Weapon Mastery – Respawn has announced the introduction of weapon mastery to the game in Season 17. Players will be presented with tasks and challenges for particular weapons and completing them will activate rewards.
  3. Firing Range update – Players and streamers have been requesting Respawn for a better firing range to help them practice. Respawn has added a few things to the Firing Range that can help players improve their gameply.
  4. Ranked update – Although the Ranked System of Apex Legends was reworked a few seasons ago, Respawn has announced another update to it. “How high can you climb?” was written on their website and fans have speculated that Apex Legends could be getting a newer rank players can strive for. The highest rank a player can reach in the game at the moment is “Apex Predator” which is the top 750 players in the world.
