Fast X Director Louis Leterrier shows interest in making a Fortnite movie at Comic-Con
Will fortnite embrace the hollywood touch?
At the San Diego Comic-Con, a lot went down. Many big banners reveal their plans for popular movie and gaming franchises. The director of Fast X, Louis Leterrier, was a part of it. Leterrier explained to a fellow director how he’d love to direct a Fortnite movie. Since then, the world has become interested in the tempting appeal of the Fast X director.
Fortnite is an extremely popular battle royale game that popped off back in 2017. The game is said to have generated over $9 billion in gross revenue. Louis Leterrier, on the other hand, is responsible for directing Fast X, the 10th series of the Fast and Furious series. He is also said to be currently working on the 11th movie in the action franchise. Other notorious films Leterrier has directed are Now You See Me, The Incredible Hulk, Transporter 2, and Unleashed.

What are the chances of Louis Leterrier directing a Fortnite Movie?
Epic Games is an American video game and software developer accredited to have made Fortnite. According to the CCO of Epic Games, Donald Mustard, a live-action Fortnite movie was a possibility to consider. Although there are no official plans yet, this statement can change that. Moreover, this recent extravagant offer that Louis Leterrier made is also a statement that can bring this to reality.
Louis Leterrier said to fellow director Justin Simien at Comic-Con, “Because the game is incredible, the characters… I mean, there’s so much more to be told. It’d be funny. It would be full of action and everything.” He then proceeds to say “I think, I think I would love to do that.”
The then-viral clip has been circulating, with fans cheering up at the possibility of this coming to fruition. Having done major projects, this wouldn’t be surprising for Leterrier to get into. Also, the trend of video games having movie adaptations makes this more of a possibility. TV series like Last of Us receiving Emmy nominations and other video game series like Twisted Metal and Halo are prominent examples.
Here’s how fans reacted on Twitter:
I don’t like the game but I’d think a lot of people would watch it.

The Hollywood touch that Louis Leterrier brings would be phenomenal for an action-packed video game like Fortnite. Despite having been deemed ‘overrated’ in recent times, the game is still very relevant, especially if a movie were to be released. This being said, Fortnite is known to always introduce new characters and skins based on the trends that circulate on the internet. For now, all fans can do is hope Epic Games is convinced by the Fast X director’s appeal.
