Fortnite is a very popular battle royale game published by Epic Games. Players have received messages like “You do not have permission to play Fortnite,” while trying to get to the game.

Generally, downtime occurs while there are updates in the game. The first major update since the launch of Fortnite Chapter 3 is going live today on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo, and mobile. The game begins to disable matchmaking earlier this afternoon and the server downtime for a short time.

At 1:13 PM ET, Epic Games said it was investigating “an issue,” and promised to share more information once it had a solution to the problem. Several streamers reported the matter via Twitter, showing their visible disgust at the persisting issue, and many have also informed that account information is not available either.

Epic Games Store was also having problems today, where some players said they couldn’t log in or even access their games for offline play. The platform might even be unavailable for a long time today, as there have been no further updates from officials yet.

“Fortnite is currently unavailable and players are unable to log in while we investigate an issue. We’ll provide more info when we have a solution to bring services back online.” However, over on its status website, the company describes the incident as a “major outage.” That same webpage notes the Epic Games Store is suffering from “degraded performance.”

Players are advised to refrain from trying too hard to access the platform during this time, although the matter seems to be temporary and will be fixed soon.
