Free Fire has been a well-known game in the Indian subcontinent and has a widespread player base. However, recently it has been in news for the Free Fire Ban in India by the Government along with 53 other China-based apps.

The order from the Indian Government was issued suddenly and a security threat explanation has been given for the ban of the Singapore-based game, Free Fire. This is a stark reminder of the September 2020 ban of PUBG and other Chinese apps from the App Store of iOS and Android devices. The central government has called it a “threat to privacy and security of Indians” and has blocked these apps until further notice from all mobile app stores.

The Free Fire Ban came as a shock to many as it had been one of the most popular games in the app store from the previous year. The ban also included apps like Viva Video Editor, Onmyoji Arena, etc, which are branded as based in China.
