“I’m skeptical about Kick in general,” YouTuber Fuslie shares her thoughts about streamers shifting from Twitch to Kick
Fuslie expressed her thoughts on the new streaming platform 'Kick' in an interview with Jake Lucky.
Considering the current controversial scene going on among Twitch streamers, loads are shifting platforms to platforms like Kick or Youtube. This is primarily due to the new guidelines on Twitch. The new Twitch guidelines are cutthroat and can hurt a lot of small streamers in the long run. The Twitch DMCA Takedown guidelines have already hurt many prominent streamers like Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys and Jeremy ‘Disguised Toast’ Wang for just watching shows on their streams. Their bans were later revoked, but they were hit with a month-long suspension. However, this is not the only issue. Twitch itself is quite unsure, considering their reversal of Hasan’s DMCA takedown.
Kick has become one of the fastest rising platforms that has become direct competition to Twitch now. With several streamers making the switch from Twitch to Kick lately, fans are always excited to see who the next such streamer will be. During the recent Dreamhack event, Fuslie shared her thoughts about this massive influx of streamers to Kick from Twitch.
During the recent DreamHack, Jake Lucky interviewed Fuslie regarding the take on streamers switching to Kick, along with the streaming platform in general. Fuslie expressed her skepticism over it. She said, “I’m skeptical about Kick in general. Like I’m not against people going to Kick, especially for security and financial reason.” Her skepticism rests on how Kick would do in the long term years. Fuslie questions Kick’s viability in coming years due to Twitch’s monopoly and unstable streaming. Since most streamers are on Twitch. Though she said, the existence of a new platform is great to even out the odds. Also, she would love to see the platform grow successfully in the coming years.

Fuslie recently switched over to YouTube from Twitch
Prior to her departure from Twitch on September 7, 2022, Fuslie was widely recognized as one of the platform’s most popular and successful broadcasters. Her content had earned her a dedicated following of viewers who enjoyed her unique blend of gaming, entertainment, and commentary. However, despite her success on Twitch, Fuslie ultimately made the decision to switch to YouTube. She became a permanent member of the platform’s elite broadcasting community alongside fellow creators such as Valkyrae, Ludwig, and CouRage. Before making the official announcement, Fuslie hinted at the move during an emotional and tearful stream, leaving her fans to speculate about what the future might hold. Despite the challenges and uncertainty that often come with such a major transition, Fuslie expressed optimism about the move and her ability to continue growing and thriving as a content creator on YouTube.
Fuslie claims that one major factor in her decision to move was Twitch’s treatment of DMCA takedowns. According to the streamer, maintaining track of one’s material is easier on YouTube than on Twitch, where it’s more of a “sink or swim” scenario.
“On Twitch, it’s like, ‘Hey, two years ago there’s this clip, you were listening to Ariana Grande, and you listened to it two times in one day, so that’s two strikes on your channel,’” she joked. “One more, and we’re gonna have to permanently take your channel down.”
“When I was talking to the Twitch higher-up. I was talking to people high up at Twitch, and they were saying, ‘Hey, there’s nothing we can do to help you,’” she added. “That freaked me out.”
“I was like, ‘Oh, don’t worry, I have connections at Twitch; I’ll just tell them. Surely they can do something. When I messaged them, and they literally gave me the, ‘Hey, all we can do is tell you to take down every clip you have, but we don’t have a system for you to remove those clips,’ … To hear that from them, directly… was terrifying.”
YouTube is a very versatile platform. And they’ve been putting a lot of work these past few years into their streaming features. Fuslie’s decision, same as the other streamers of her friend’s group, was a very valid and feasible one. Considering Twitch and its poor handling of its own streamer community is the reason for streamers to switch to different streaming platforms. Twitch needs to amend its DMCA guidelines, or it will see a major decline as one of the most prominent streaming sites in existence.
