Valve has officially announced Counter-Strike 2, and for those fortunate enough to satisfy the requirements, they’ll be able to participate in a beta test of the game this week that Valve is characterizing as a restricted test. The duration of the first part of the game has not yet been determined.
The ability to edit inventory items inside the game will not be permitted, but players will be able to use all of their CS:GO inventory items in it, including their weapon finishes, stickers, and other items.
How can players gain access to the Counter-Strike 2 limited test
Who is allowed to participate in the limited test will depend on a variety of parameters. These parameters are those that the Counter-Strike 2 development team deems crucial, according to Valve. If you’re selected there are some standout criteria. These include your recent play on Valve’s official servers, trust level, and Steam account standing will all be key factors.
On the CS:GO main menu, you’ll see a notification if you’ve been selected. Increased numbers of players will be incorporated to the limited test soon. Therefore if you don’t meet the criteria for the initial batch of invitations, keep checking frequently on the CS:GO main menu to find out whether you have been invited to participate or not.
When you receive your invitation, click “ENROLL” to start the download. Choose the “Limited Test” option to start playing after the download is finished. During this initial test, Deathmatch and Unranked Competitive matchmaking will be available on the Dust2 map, according to Valve. Other game modes, maps, and features will also be made available in subsequent limited test launches.
Players will have the ability to stream their gameplay and upload clips about their experience. Also, Valve states that experience points gained in the limited test period will transfer to CS:GO. It is anticipated that Counter-Strike 2 will launch in the summer of 2023, and act as a free update for CS:GO.
With the official announcement of the game, Valve has unveiled more technical information about the follow-up, including realistic smoke grenades, an improved tick rate, and completely redesigned maps that make use of new Source 2 tools.
