Popular streamer xQc shows interest in acquiring The Guard’s Valorant roster
Felix might soon throw in huge chunk of money to sign former The Guard's Valorant roster

Last week Riot Games revealed that the VCT Challengers Ascension 2023: Americas winner, The Guard will not participate in the 2024 VCT Americas League. They said that The Guard has failed to meet the deadline to agree to the Team Participation Agreement for VCT Americas. It buzzed the Valorant community and many conversations started about this controversial decision. The Guard’s players revealed that they had no prior idea about the news and got to know about this through X.
Many pro players and org raised their voices against Riot’s decision to remove The Guard’s VCT Americas 2024 slot and said it was an injustice to the players who worked hard the whole year. After considerable backlash, Riot Games overturned their decision and revealed that The Guard players will be able to participate in VCT Americas given that they find a suitable candidate organization. This started a race between many orgs to acquire these talented players. Earlier, Disguised Toast and Ludwig showed their interest in signing these players. Now, xQc has revealed that he is also interested in signing The Guard’s players.
xQc earlier this year, also stirred the conversation of him entering the Valorant scene. His fellow streamers Disguised Toast and Ludwig have already started their Valorant teams which competed in the Valorant Challengers. This might be finally the time for Ghost Ridah to enter the Valorant eSports scene.

xQc joins the race for acquiring The Guard’s players

After the news of The Guard getting disqualified from VCT Americas 2024 broke out, the org revealed that they’re parting ways with their Ascension-winning roster. Later when Riot revealed that The Guard’s Valorant players can participate in the VCT Americas, they became the hottest commodity in the NA Valorant eSports scene. Acquiring this team means a two-year franchise spot in the VCT Americas Leaguer which no one wants to pass on. So xQc also showing interest in signing The Guard players is obvious.
During the recent live stream, xQc revealed that he has been thinking of buying The Guard’s former Valorant roster. He said, “Yeah, I was thinking about buying, um, The Guard from Valorant and kind of sending it even though it is kind of expensive.”
Felix’s friend asked him to sign a Counter-Strike 2 team. To this, xQc replied that he doesn’t have enough time to figure out the whole structure of the organization and it is better for him to buy a pre-existing roster. When asked about the risk associated with buying the Valorant team, xQc said,
“Since it’s like T1, it’s like tier one Valorant? All the other teams have like a full like, they have a place where they’re going to live, where they’re going to practice, their whole support team, and sh*t like that. They have everything fully fledged out, you know? And building that might take a lot of time.”
Entering the eSports scene and running an org might sound fancy however it can also dupe a lot of money. Disguised Toast earlier this year revealed that he lost about $1 million in a year with his eSports venture. Acquiring a tier 1 team will obviously cost a lot as there are a lot of big players eyeing this valuable and stacked Valorant roster. It will be interesting to see if xQc eventually will end up signing The Guard’s former players with the money he got after signing with Kick. Fans will surely see many other big orgs and streamers coming up to raise their interest in signing these players. It will be interesting to see how things will unfold for these youngsters.
