Sony Entertainment unveils “Project Q” officially at PlayStation Showcase
Sony Entertainment has recently tweaked a peek into the new "Project Q" which is very ambitious. Read on to know more.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has always been the first choice among most gamers. Be it a seamless gaming experience or user interface, Sony always delivers the best. And with time, things only evolved for Sony. With the PS5 being among the best-selling consoles in history, it has made yet another move to attract more gamers and fans to get a better experience in gaming. Sony’s new project Q, which was announced earlier on May 25, 2023, will take shape.
Considering the emergence of new and additional attachments for the console, this is quite an ambitious project for Sony Entertainment. As for “Project Q,” which is going to be a device for playing PS5 much like a handheld gaming console that has recently seen a peak in sales and overall marketing, However, interestingly, this does not fall under handheld consoles.
The best it could do is stream the game online, given that players have a sync with their console and are connected to it simultaneously. This will also mean that players will have to have a game installed before streaming. And it will be connected via Wi-Fi.

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s New ambitious “Project Q”
The device features a huge HD screen with a wholesome 8-inch screen. And the buttons are straight from the controller of the usual PS5. The screen is placed right in the middle of the controller, which enables proper control of the remote.
Other key equipment includes the first-ever PlayStation earbuds. This will enable audio immersion, have features like lossless audio, and connect to smartphones, PCs, and the PlayStation 5. This gives the earbuds increased device connectivity and a better user experience. The earbuds are specially designed for players to get top-notch gaming audio zest and performance.
Now let’s get down to what it means for the players. With the already constrained market for handheld devices, console giants like Steam with the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch are already dominating the sector, which puts Sony right in the spot to keep its industry leadership stable.
Which seems like all the more reason to keep tabs on its competitors.
Although Q isn’t expected to offer game streaming or cloud gaming at this time, it’s important to note that Sony is well-recognized for its cloud gaming service, which it may improve in the future. Enabling game streaming and adding more revenue-generating services for Sony might increase Q’s functionality.
Given the already cluttered competitive market, it would be interesting to see how Sony’s new handheld console fairs against full-fledged consoles from Nintendo and Steam Deck.
