Riot Games has had huge success with its first FPS shooter, Valorant. After three years of launch, the game has created a sizable player base. The major success of Valorant is due to the game’s immersive experience and unique mechanics. Furthermore, the developers continuously strive to make the game better and more fun for the player base with every update. And with the upcoming Episode 7 Act 3, a new duelist agent, ISO, is coming to Valorant!
The game’s agents—the playable characters—are also one of its best unique aspects. Valorant uses its agents in a way that is distinct from how other games use them. From categorizing them into different roles, the game’s agent pool is really vast. Moreover, since the last few updates, the game has had many non-duelist agents enter the fray.
However, this time, for a change of pace, after a while, a new duelist agent called ISO is coming to Valorant. Furthermore, Riot Games has gone all out with this new agent!

Valorant’s new duelist agent— ISO
Recent updates to Valorant have brought forth several changes to the game. These changes include new maps like Lotus and Sunset and gameplay changes. The recent agent update to the game brought Deadlock to the roster, and players have been showing the agent a lot of love since her addition to the game. Furthermore, the upcoming Episode 7, Act 3, will finally add to the game its new duelist agent after a long time!
Hailing from China, ISO is coming to Valorant. Moreover, ISO is going to be the game’s second Chinese agent, after Sage, and comes with a lot of duelist-centric abilities. Furthermore, ISO is going to be the 7th duelist agent of Valorant, along with agents like Neon, Phoenix, Reyna, Raze, and others!
The abilities of the upcoming agent are intensively thought through and offer players a wide variety of tricks they can employ to best their opponents. Let’s take a look at the agent’s abilities.
ISO’s abilities
ISO, being a duelist agent, has a lot of abilities that can help him win gunfights and give his team an edge over opponents. Furthermore, the agent is really good for one-on-one battles and has a lot of tanking abilities. This makes ISO the right choice for players with a solo playstyle. Additionally, ISO enables players to take down enemies with their aim and game sense, caring less about the damage they receive in the process.
This agent has a lot of abilities that can mitigate damage for the players. Moreover, devs have put a lot of effort into making ISO a great choice for somewhat seasoned Valorant players. The detailed abilities of the agent are as follows:
Ability 1 (E): Double Tap
Double Tap is ISO’s primary ability that Valorant players receive at the start of every round. Furthermore, this ability, when equipped, starts a short focus timer, after which damaging or killing an enemy generates an energy orb that flies into the sky. Upon shooting the orb, players can mitigate any single instance of damage that they receive.
So, this means players can mitigate damage from a bullet shot on the body or head or render any sure kill shots, either from an Operator or Raze’s Ultimate, Showstopper, in its entirety. Nevertheless, this makes this ability overpowered but also kind of risky at times.
Ability 2 (Q): Undercut
Valorant has many different status effects that are caused by the abilities of other players. From Sage’s “Slowed” to Viper‘s “Decay,” there are many different status ailments in Valorant. Furthermore, Undercut, one of ISO’s abilities in Valorant, also comes with a status effect.
When equipped and fired, this ability sends out a molecular bolt that gives opponents a “Fragile” status. This is similar to the “Vulnerable” status effect and makes enemies stuck with it take extra damage. Moreover, this ability can phase through walls, making it a great support ability, too!
Ability 3 (C): Contingency
ISO’s third ability in Valorant is, in a nutshell, Harbor’s Cascade, but better. When equipped and fired, this ability creates an energy wall, which is indestructible. The wall moves forward in the same way Cascade does and blocks off bullets. Although abilities can pass through the ability, this also gives the player’s team a good advantage over enemies.
This ability is overpowered as it can very well be used to take site entry, and support agents can use their abilities through the wall to take smoother control of the site. Furthermore, this ability can also be used for repositioning, as players can’t see through it. Also, the range of this wall is really good, so players can use this while entering sites which has a long path to transverse, like Haven‘s site A or C, Breeze’s site A, and other similar sites.
Ultimate Ability (X): Kill Contract
One of the best ultimate abilities of the game would go to ISO’s ultimate ability. Kill Contract is a very unique ability. When equipped and fired, this ability creates an energy column that sweeps through the visible area and targets the first enemy in contact with it. This ability creates an entirely different dimension and throws the player and enemy into a 1v1.
This ability is a literal duel to death and can be somewhat less rewarding if the player’s aim isn’t top-notch. However, with the skills, this ability is an overpowered one that can make an already 1v1 scenario more effective and easier to play out! This is one ability that would be quite interesting to see pro players use in the upcoming VCT 2024!
Valorant’s upcoming duelist agent ISO’s release date
ISO would be coming to the game with the Episode 7, Act 3 update. The update will roll out on October 31, 2023. The closing of Ranked queues and the end of the Battle Pass period will give players a hint that the current season is coming to an end soon!
Players would be able to acquire ISO for the 28 days after the agent’s launch by completing Daily and Weekly missions to rake in the EXP rewards. Furthermore, after the end of the launch period, players would be able to acquire the agent through Kingdom Points. ISO is a versatile agent and can help aggressive players develop a whole unique playstyle around the agent!
