EA launched UFC 5 on October 27th for all platforms. The game’s realistic injury system and tougher language in the career mode have earned it an ESRB Mature (M) rating, making it the first EA Sports title to do so since Fight Night Champion (2011). UFC 5 runs on the Frostbite engine, as opposed to its predecessors, which ran on the Ignite engine.

When the beta registration period for UFC 5 opened, gamers noted that the game’s rating had changed from T for Teen to M for Mature. It was for the first time that the UFC franchise game got the M-rating. Sports games, especially from a publisher like EA Sports usually keep it rated PG, but this time it was not the case. The next-generation graphics make it more likely to feel the pain from the screens.

Realistic Damage Makes UFC M-Rated

UFC 5 features additional detail in an attempt to provide a more accurate representation of combat sports. Due to EA’s efforts to take things a step further, UFC 5 is rated M for Mature this time around. The game will allow players to truly experience the reality of the violence and will have more realistic damage portrayals. Additionally, it’s said that blood will gather around the octagon, allowing fighters to truly see and experience the impact of their punches and kicks.

Of course, with it being M for Mature, the game won’t be able to be sold to anyone under 17 without a parent or guardian. This may limit some people from being able to buy the game and hurt Bale. But it does show EA’s commitment to authenticity in the game. The publisher has been criticized over the years for prioritizing money over the player experience, but at least in one area, that may not be the case with UFC 5.

What makes UFC 5 different?

Because EA’s Frostbite technology is being used, UFC 5 brings a new level of visual authenticity and realism to the franchise. This engine is well-known for its breathtaking animation and graphics. Like UFC 4, the game’s roster of the best names in the UFC will expand and change after launch. The roster of the game will include renowned warriors in addition to current UFC competitors. As a pre-order bonus, Fedor Emelianenko, Mike Tyson, and Muhammad Ali are included in the game’s roster.
