“It could become dramatic”: xQc and Kai Cenat not paying their mods has left fans divided

Kai Cenat and xQc

Two of Twitch’s biggest streamers, Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel and Kai Cenat are often seen doing collaborative streams. The latter streamer who was accused of being transphobic a couple of days ago was seen playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 with Felix Lengyel when they discussed something crucial.

The aspect of Twitch mods came up when Kai Cenat asked the former professional Overwatch player whether he pays his channel’s moderators or not, to which xQc replied, “Uhh… no. Do you? It’s not about doing it for free. It’s about, I don’t want it to become weird.” Kai Cenat was intrigued to hear this as he stated that does the same and was actually asked by his mods to present this question.

Some of my mods asked me to ask you that! Stupid, dumba**, d**kheads! Y’all n****s just volunteering to do s**t for free! The f**k?”, Kai Cenat exclaimed. After hearing this, xQc highlighted the fact that paying his moderators could lead to a dramatic situation as he knew that it “wouldn’t be that much of a set back to pay them, but if it became weird, it could become dramatic.”

Fans of prominent content creators, be it YouTube or Twitch are aware on how the channel moderators are responsible for handling the chat as well as technical issues during the livestream. For their hectic work, several creators such as Ludwig, TimTheTatman and others have revealed that they pay their moderators regularly.

The situation, is however different for xQc and Kai Cenat. While the latter streamer achieved breakthrough this year, the former one has been a mainstream creator on Twitch for quite a while now, but he believes that paying moderators could lead to some serious changes such as them leaving his channel.

"Like, what if they don't like the channel anymore? They're like modding and don't like me anymore. Right? But if they're doing it for the money, then it becomes kind of weird."

The 26-year-old Twitch streamer believed that if his moderators are only present on his channel for the money, then they might leave in future if his content is not favorable to them. Kai Cenat, on his part completely agreed with the streamer but it seems that fans are unhappy to hear this.

As the clip was shared in r/livestreamfails, Redditors didn’t miss their chance to point out the mistake that the content creators are committing by not paying their moderators who deserve to get paid. They also highlighted how other creators such as Ludwig regularly pay his mods under contract.

This isn’t the first time that the duo are collaborating to play a game but fans wish to see more such collaborative streams from both of the Twitch streamers.
