VCT Masters Tokyo 2023 is going in full blaze. Teams like Evil Geniuses and Edward Gaming are surprising everyone on the international stage. Fans of Paper Rex, the #1 seed of VCT Pacific, expected the same from their team. Unfortunately, Star player “Something” is missing from Paper Rex’s roster, raising questions and speculations.

Something played a prominent role in PRX dominating the VCT Pacific league. They defeated Korean powerhouse DRX twice in the tournament: once in the group stages and once in the finals. Paper Rex also became the first team to pull off a reverse sweep at the VCT Tournament. But in the absence of Something, Paper Rex is not looking for a good position at Masters Tokyo.

Visa challenges can pose significant hurdles for esports participants looking to compete on an international scale. For Something from Paper Rex, these challenges have unfortunately led him unable to attend VCT Master Tokyo 2023. While there were some encouraging updates regarding his visa situation earlier on, it was clarified later that he would not be present at the event in Tokyo. As a result of this setback, Paper Rex had no choice but to modify their lineup and go with a backup player instead of Something during the opening match.

Teamwork Disrupted

The backup player, Patiphan ‘CigaretteS’ Posri, joined the team and did his job. Paper Rex exhibited impressive resolve and skill by securing a hard-earned victory during that initial contest.
