Burak Yilmaz will lead the Turkey national football team in the Euro 2020 which is scheduled to begin on 11th June in Rome. Yilmaz will be looking to keep his golden run going when Turkey competes in Euro 2020 this summer. As a skipper, he is the central focus for Turkey’s brilliant new breed of players, and his tenacity and steely resolve to win continues to inspire them.

Since joining Lille from Besiktas last year, Yilmaz has been in fantastic form, helping the club win the French league title. In his 28 league games, Yilmaz was one of the heroes of the victory, scoring 16 goals and assisting on five others.

The veteran forward was also in dream form for his national side as he scored a hat trick in the FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands. Not only did he score goals, but his great effort as Turkish captain encouraged and directed a bunch of younger players, including Liverpool’s Ozan Kabak, Juventus’ Melih Demirel, Leicester City’s Caglar Soyuncu, and Lille’s Zeki Celik, all of whom are in their early twenties.

Yilmaz debuted for Turkey’s senior team in 2006 and has since appeared in 66 matches for his nation. With 28 goals, the 35-year-old Yilmaz is Turkey’s second-highest scorer of all time, trailing only the now-retired Hakan Sukur.

Considering the form of Yilmaz, Turkey Coach Senol Gunes will be hoping to spring a surprise in the Euro 2020. Turkey will be looking to make a stronger impression this summer than they did at Euro 2016 when they were one of just eight teams to be booted out before the knockout round.
