Jiri Prochazka had recently declared that he had been eyeing the middleweight division. The former champion might make the move down from the light-heavyweight division. But Robert Whittaker is not very fond of that idea. Whittaker revealed in a recent episode of his podcast that he would rather have Prochazka stay in the 205lb weight class for a very specific reason.
Robert Whittaker recently sat down for a discussion with his co-host Jonny on the MMArcade Podcast. During the episode, Jonny brought up Prochazka’s statement about his potential move to the middleweight division. Robert Whittaker said:
I hope he doesn't. I really hope he doesn't. I like the guy a lot but if he enters the middleweight division then we're enemies. That's just the nature of the game.Robert Whittaker on MMArcade
Robert Whittaker said that everyone in the UFC’s middleweight division is his enemy. Everyone except his teammates, because they would not fight each other. This is not the first time the former champion has mentioned this. Back when he was about to fight Darren Till, Whittaker had made it clear that he had no friends in the middleweight division.
Whittaker’s upcoming opponent Khamzat Chimaev had made a similar move to the middleweight division. They will fight this June, headlining UFC on ABC 6. The fight will take place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Robert Whittaker is rooting for Belal Muhammad to win the title
Another fighter that has caught the attention of Robert Whittaker is Belal Muhammad. Whittaker recently said something interesting about the welterweight contender on the MMArcade Podcast. Belal Muhammad had been pushing for a welterweight title fight against Leon Edwards for a while now and the former champion is all for it.

The Reaper said that the more people hated Belal Muhammad, the more he liked him. Whittaker said it is a fight he would want to see and would even prefer Belal getting the belt. The Kiwi-Aussie clarified that he liked Leon Edwards and did not imply that he wanted Edwards to lose. The former champion simply wants to see the public uproar when Belal Muhammad gets the welterweight title around his waist.
Belal Muhammad has been on an incredible winning streak and has even trained with Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s camp. A fight between Muhammad and Leon Edwards is what MMA fans are eagerly awaiting.
