Max Verstappen, the reigning F1 World Champion, has been dominating the sport since the 2022 season. The ongoing campaign has also got an imprint of the Dutchman’s dominance all over it and keeping this in mind, the former F1 driver, Jonny Herbert has claimed that Verstappen will turn out better than Lewis Hamilton.

Max Verstappen has currently managed two World Championships in the sport and is only 25 years old. He has several years ahead of him and the way the 2023 season is panning out, he is on track to secure his third F1 World Championship. Moreover, he is extremely valuable to Red Bull and that’s why he is the highest-paid driver on the current F1 grid.

Jonny Herbert is a fan of everything that Verstappen has managed so far in his career and while applauding him ahead of the Belgian GP, he told racingwes365.com, “He has grown so much as a driver. He doesn’t just fly off into the distance. He looks at the situation and then decides what to do. That is a change from the Max of the past.

Max will be better than Lewis Hamilton, Lewis was better than Michael Schumacher and Schumacher was better than Senna again. It’s just evolving. A bad day for Max was second. Now a bad day for him is a first place.” Herbert has made a huge claim and several pundits are surely going to have their separate opinions on it.

While Jonny Herbert has made a mega claim around the F1 exploits of Max Verstappen, the thinking behind it is quite understandable taking into account how dominant he has proven himself in the last couple and the ongoing season. 2023 has been extremely kind to him and he is currently leading the Drivers Championship by a comfortable margin.

As things stand, his nearest rival in the Championship is his Red Bull teammate, Sergio Perez, but the gap between the two is huge thanks to the prolific efforts of the Verstappen. He has been able to put the RB19 through the wringer at every Grand Prix so far, and thus, has currently got a lead of 110 points on his Mexican teammate.

The ongoing campaign is 12 rounds down and leading up to the final race before the start of the summer break, Verstappen has already managed to put one of his hands on the Championship already. At the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix, he is again going to be the favorite to lift the P1 trophy at the end of the race.
