The Dallas Cowboys lost their third game of the season within the first five weeks. Quarterback Dak Prescott threw two interceptions and completed 57.1% of his passes in a 24-16 defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Bucs traveled to Arlington on Thursday night after four straight defeats. They were a massive 8.5-point underdogs.

Rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels deputized for Baker Mayfield. Daniels threw 19 completions for 189 yards, one touchdown, and rushed 7 times for 23 yards. Bucky Irving ran 21 times for 165 yards and one touchdown. Irving also scored a receiving touchdown.

The defense forced three turnovers. Prescott threw two interceptions, and Kavontae Turpin fumbled on a return.

The Bucs also had 19 minutes of additional possession than the Cowboys, more first downs, more third downs, 65 total plays, and three red-zone tries. The Bucs outgained the Cowboys by 241 to 50 rushing yards.

The Cowboys lost 24-16. Dallas is 2-3 after five games. Two-time Super Bowl champion Asante Samuel called out the Cowboys on Twitter. He tweeted:

Just set the Cowboys team and stadium on fire. And rebuild everything.

Skip Bayless gives his honest opinion on the Dallas Cowboys’ defeat to the Buccaneers

Longtime Cowboys fan Skip Bayless has been through the wringer this year. He experienced the highest of highs with wins over Washington and the lowest lows—a TNF defeat to the Buccaneers.

Bayless called it the “ugliest” Dallas Cowboys loss he can remember. He pointed out that the Cowboys lost to an undrafted rookie who struggled to put up numbers against a bad Green Bay Packers team four days earlier.

The veteran NFL analyst criticized Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker, whom the Cowboys hired in the offseason. Under Parker, the Cowboys defense ranks at the bottom in nearly every metric after five games—32nd in yards per play allowed, 30th in points per drive allowed, last in turnover rate, and second from the bottom in third- and fourth-down defense.

Bayless mocked Parker as “Christian Eberflus” because the former Eagle was brought in to fix his predecessor, Matt Eberflus’s mess. Bayless argued that Parker has made the defense worse.

To top it off, the 74-year-old bashed Dak Prescott’s lackluster performance. He compared it with last year’s defeat to the Arizona Cardinals. Bayless stated:

I have been a Dallas Cowboys fan since I was 10 years of age. It’s a long time—die hard. And I just the hardest single game death I ever died, because that was the ugliest Dallas Cowboys loss seriously I can ever, ever, ever remember.

Stephen A. Smith mocks the Dallas Cowboys after TNF loss

If Bayless is a staunch Cowboys supporter, then his former ESPN colleague, Stephen A. Smith, hates the NFC East franchise’s guts to the core. Smith has admitted on air that he hates the Cowboys fanbase because of their obnoxious obsession with the chant “this is our year,” even though the Cowboys haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1996.

After TNF’s loss to the Bucs, Stephen A. posted a video on social media that went viral immediately. In the clip, Smith is seen sitting inside a plane wearing a hoodie. He starts the clip with cynical laughter before muttering the words:

You can’t make it up… you can’t make it up. You just can’t… How about ‘dem Cowboys?

In Week 6, the Cowboys play the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. The Cowboys have won just twice in twelve previous attempts in Green Bay.
