The Rock‘s name was recently brought up by former WWE female talent Sonya Deville, now going by her real name Daria Rae, in TNA. The 32-year-old joined Branson Quirke on TMZ‘s Inside The Ring segment alongside her good friend and former WWE colleague CJ Perry, fka Lana.
Almost 11 minutes into the conversation, Quirke asked both Deville and Perry if any celebrity had ever rolled into their DMs. The current TNA Director of Operations revealed on TMZ that she has indeed encountered one such instance.
And as mentioned in the beginning, it involved Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Deville had once posted on Instagram mimicking The Great One’s iconic turtleneck with the chain outfit and tagged the Attitude Era megastar as well. To her surprise, the Hollywood mogul himself got back to Deville.
Me and Dwayne Johnson — The Rock — we have had a DM exchange. It was because I wore a turtleneck and I kind of mimicked his iconic outfit with the chain and the turtleneck, and I tagged him in it and I was like, ‘Wow, my Rock outfit. And he DM’d me with a voice memo… ‘Yo, D, that’s so cool. I’m watching you.’ And I mean, I don’t fangirl easily, but that got me. I was like, ‘Oh my god.’

She was blown away by the fact that The People’s Champ had sent her a voice memo checking on the New Jersey native. The former leader of the Pure Fusion Collective said that even though she doesn’t fangirl over anything easily, that particular moment of The Rock reaching out to her meant the world to Deville. She stated that they went back and forth a couple of times.
The 2015 WWE Tough Enough fame also played the other voice note that Johnson had sent her, in which she sought whatever advice that the 53-year-old would’ve liked to give her. Their conversation, however, was short-lived and ended with Sonya Deville making what she described as a corny joke, which was a movie reference. It was the last text she exchanged with the Smashing Machine actor.
The show host joked that Deville might want to work on her material, to which she admitted she isn’t great at that and is even awkward sometimes. The former WWE women’s tag team champion was all smiles reflecting on that exchange with ‘The Brahma Bull’ and added that it will go down as her coolest DM ever.
CJ Perry, on her turn, divulged that she once reached out to Justin Bieber in 2009 or 2010 after the singer started following her on X. The erstwhile Lana said that she texted Bieber, telling him that she was a big fan of his music. Bieber responded back by thanking Perry for the support.
The Rock is expected to return at WrestleMania 43 after recent overtures
There has been a ton of chatter regarding The Rock potentially returning to WWE for next year’s WrestleMania in Saudi Arabia. In fact, as per a recent report, the TKO Board of Directors member is expected to receive the biggest offer ever made to anyone for doing a pro wrestling show.

The General Entertainment Authority (GEA) has been longing for ‘The Final Boss’ to have a match in its country. If it does come to fruition, that would likely be The Rock’s final match, considering he will be almost 55 by then. The most obvious opponent for him to wrestle against would be his cousin, Roman Reigns.

Saudi Arabia is reportedly going all in for WrestleMania 43.

It also needs to be remembered that ‘The Tribal Chief’ had made it clear before WrestleMania 41 that his ongoing WWE contract would be up around this year’s WrestleMania. Reigns told Vanity Fair that it would be a maximum of a year or two after that before taking up a less physical form of entertainment.
‘The OTC’ has seemingly set an upper limit of WrestleMania in 2028 for his WWE retirement. If the Saudi Arabian officials do lure The Rock to have a singles match in Riyadh next year, it could realistically be the last chance to hold a Rock vs. Reigns dream match.
