Adrian Newey is the most successful designer in the history of Formula 1. The Englishman has won championships with Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull. As such, it is no surprise that the 65-year-old has allegedly no shortage of options for 2025. However, it seems that Aston Martin is willing to go all out to sign the aero genius.

After Newey decided to leave Red Bull, many speculated that his next destination would be Ferrari, perhaps to work with Lewis Hamilton who joins the Scuderia next year. However, Lawrence Stroll‘s Aston Martin seems to be at the front of the race to hire Newey with even McLaren and Williams in the running.

Aston Martin has failed to build upon its success at the early part of 2023 and has fallen behind rivals this year. It seems that the Silverstone-based team is in a desperate state. With Lawrence Stroll perhaps ready to put his best on Adrian Newey to turn things around for his squad.

Lawrence Stroll might be running out of patience with Aston Martin

When Lawrence Stroll acquired the bankrupt Force India team, he made it clear that he wanted it to be a top team in F1. The Canadian billionaire reasserted his claims after renaming the squad to Aston Martin 2021. Stroll even signed a deal with Honda for an exclusive power unit supply from 2026, making the Silverstone squad a works team.

However, the team’s on-track results have not matched Stroll’s off-track efforts. Aston Martin has struggled to make gains in the past year and has been no match to the likes of McLaren or Mercedes. It is believed that Lawrence Stroll is losing faith in his own engineers, forcing him to look elsewhere. This could be the reason for Aston Martin signing Ferrari’s Enrico Cardile as its new Technical Chief. The arrival of Adrian Newey however, remains the main target for the British team.

Newey has been reportedly offered a mega salary to join the Silverstone squad. Lawrence Stroll will undoubtedly leave no stone unturned to get the services of the aero genius. The road car division of Aston Martin, with which Adrian Newey has worked for the Valkyrie before, is a further bonus in this regard.

On the other hand, it is clear that Stroll might be out of moves if Newey does not join the Silverstone squad. The Canadian billionaire wants his team to fight for world titles in a couple of years. With Adrian Newey’s services perhaps the key to such results.
