Oscar Piastri has emerged as a shock contender for the drivers’ title against Lando Norris and Max Verstappen. Piastri had to play the team game in the past season, which caused him to lose the championship contention early on. However, the Aussie has come up with full force this year and has won four out of six races, clinching the title lead from Norris early on. Now, ex-F1 world champion Alain Prost pondered on the 24-year-old’s methods of relieving the pressures of fighting for the title against two highly capable drivers.

Oscar Piastri had clearly mentioned that he was ready to race Lando Norris hard this season for the drivers’ title. The team has also declined to pick favorites for the drivers’ title so early in the season. Piastri’s extremely calm and collected candor while driving on the F1 track, minimizing mistakes, has helped him achieve success early on. Norris, on the other hand, is making mistakes that have cost him his running against his Aussie counterpart.

Piastri is also a very reserved personality outside of Formula 1, rarely sharing his thoughts or images of his private excursion. He barely shows any emotions on the track and remains calm during all his media appearances, which have helped him gain a great name in the media. Alain Prost believes that this peculiar habit of the 24-year-old has enabled him to ease off the pressure of the drivers’ title this year.

Prost pointed out that Oscar Piastri didn’t communicate much, which was ironically a good thing. The 24-year-old kept his personal life private and remained reserved. The four-time champion noted that Piastri ‘disappeared’ during the break between races and did not show how he relieved the pressure of performing well in the pinnacle of motorsport. The Frenchman advised the Australian to remain similar in his approach to the sport and keep quiet on and off the grid.

The new Championship leader, Oscar Piastri, doesn’t communicate much. We don’t know much about his life off the track. Naturally reserved, the Australian disappears between races and frees himself from this pressure. If I had one piece of advice to give him, it would be to keep quiet.

Alain Prost reveals Lando Norris’ ‘weakness’ against Oscar Piastri

Lando Norris is a much more vocal and talkative person during his media appearances in Formula 1. Due to this, he has also made some controversial remarks that caused a wave of hatred towards him. Alain Prost reckons that this habit of Norris to remain chronically online and sharing his excursions on Social Media might have caused him to become weak, especially against his teammate, Oscar Piastri.

Alain Prost pointed out that Lando Norris enjoyed his time out and was spotted partying and clubbing over the break before a race weekend. On top of this, Norris accepted his shortcomings and remained critical of his mistakes that caused his image to become ‘fragile’ as compared to Piastri’s. As such, Prost advised the 25-year-old to remain quieter and not weaken his own image and personality in front of the fans.

Norris, on the other hand, is constantly on the networks. You see him in nightclubs. And what’s more, when he’s on the track, he admits his weaknesses. The more you show yourself, the more fragile you become. Lando is a driver whom I respect enormously, but if I had one piece of advice to give him, it would be to keep quiet and not to weaken himself like that.

Alain Prost noted

The 2025 season has peaked in excitement and competition at the forefront amongst multiple teams and drivers. While Norris and Piastri enjoy a big competitive advantage over their rivals, the Briton is still failing to emerge victorious. Hence, the 25-year-old will need to work harder and even take Prost’s advice if he really wishes to succeed this year, defying all odds.
