Lando Norris has been driving extremely in 2024 courtesy of the quick McLaren MCL38. The Briton sits second in the standings, trailing 78 points behind leader Max Verstappen. With the fast pace McLaren’s have, Norris can possibly snatch the lead from Verstappen in the last 10 races. However, Williams driver Alex Albon claims it will be difficult for the Briton to do so.

Alex Albon in a recent interview doubted Lando Norris over snatching the lead from Max Verstappen in drivers standing. It does seem Red Bull’s car is not that strong, but Verstappen’s skills hides the true potential of their car. The Dutchman is so good with handling that he can drive any car. Albon reckoned the real competition between McLaren and Red Bull is for Constructors’ Championship, which involves team performance rather than individuals. Therefore, despite McLaren’s strong runs, The 28-year-old feels Verstappen’s skills will make it difficult for the 24-year-old to win.

I don't know how much I believe Lando can take it off Max. I look at it more like a constructors' championship battle than a drivers' championship battle.

I think that what's great to see is just purely there's a fight. There's a proper fight up at the top of every race, it seems to be some kind of thing going on.

Alex Albon asserts it’s new experience for Lando Norris to be at the top

Alex Albon mentioned that in the past few years the most exciting racing happened among the midfield teams rather than the top teams. Due to Red Bull’s dominance they were often unchallenged, and the battle was for second positions. However, this year is different because the top teams were now involved in close and exciting battles. Albon mentioned for Max Verstappen to be at the top is not a new thing this year, but for Lando Norris is a whole new experience. The 28-year-old stated he’s not as familiar with fighting for the top positions, so it is a fresh and challenging situation for Norris.

I think last year, last few years, it's always been the midfield battles that have created any form of racing. And now it's actually the top teams creating fights. Max has been in his position, many a times. For Lando, it's more new for him.
Alex Albon stated

At the start, the competition felt almost the same as last year. However, McLaren and other teams improved their situations and gave Red Bull a tough battle. McLaren, in particular, made significant progress. Both of their drivers achieved higher finishes, providing Lando Norris with an unfamiliar experience at the top.
