Lewis Hamilton will race for Scuderia Ferrari in F1 this year. The seven-time world champion has left Mercedes after over a decade. Now, former F1 driver Anthony Davidson has advised Hamilton to avoid mistakes made by Daniel Ricciardo at McLaren.
Ricciardo joined McLaren in 2021 after leaving Renault. The Australian driver was never able to match teammate Lando Norris at Woking and struggled to get comfortable with the car. This changed Daniel Ricciardo‘s signature late braking style. Ultimately, things did not improve for the Honey Badger who had to vacate his seat at the British team despite having a longer contract.
Anthony Davidson pointed out that sometimes a driver will never get the car under their control at a new team, no matter the changes made by mechanics. He hoped that Lewis Hamilton would be lucky and feels right at home with the car from pre-season testing.
Daniel Ricciardo, when he moved to McLaren and struggled with the brakes, he never got to grips with it. Sometimes, it will never feel like the car you want it to in terms of controls, no matter how much you work with the engineers to try and rectify it. Hopefully, for his sake, he is lucky and it all feels intuitive.
Anthony Davidson told Sky F1
Lewis Hamilton might not feel at home at Ferrari
Moving teams in Formula 1 is common for most drivers. Although, Lewis Hamilton had only made one switch on the grid previously, when he moved from McLaren to Mercedes. Anthony Davidson confessed that sometimes a driver may never feel at home when they join a new team even under the right circumstances.

There is always the chance that when a driver moves team, it never quite feels like home for some reason.
Anthony Davidson noted
So far, things have been on the right track for Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion is determined to make a mark at Maranello from the get-go. As such, the Tifosi would be hoping to see the Briton fight for victory at the season-opener in Melbourne next month.
