Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso‘s longevity in Formula 1 is one of the best ever in the history of the sport. Alonso debuted at the pinnacle of motorsport with Minardi in 2001 and has raced for over 20 seasons.

F2 and F3 CEO Bruno Michel has praised the veteran Spaniard for his impressive run, deeming him to be one of the best ever. Fernando Alonso has amassed two world championships and won 32 times in his career.

Michel has claimed that Alonso’s intelligence in Formula 1 has developed immensely over the years, which has helped him in staying on the extremely competitive grid. The joint CEO has hence accredited the 42-year-old’s longevity to his evergreen love for the sport.

I think he's smarter than he was before. I think his knowledge of the race has developed in an incredible way and at the very least, he's as fast as he was 20 years ago. I'm completely surprised, at 42, he still has the motivation to continue , to start the season, get back in the gym, test, travel around the world... he's very demanding and he still loves it like a little child, that's why it's so special.

Alonso has not won a race since 2013 but was on the podium several times last season. The veteran’s dedication to the sport is a burning motivator for young drivers to work hard and do their best to excel in their careers.

Max Verstappen deems Fernando Alonso as one of the best ever

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has always been a keen admirer of Fernando Alonso since his early days. Verstappen has claimed that the 42-year-old could have had more championships with better luck in his career.

Alonso could have had eight world titles if he had had a bit more luck in his career by making the right decisions at the right time. So, no, titles don't matter..It's a team effort that has to come together and that's why I think Alonso is definitely one of the best drivers in history because wherever he went, he was always very, very fast.
Max Verstappen spoke to Mundo Deportivo

Max Verstappen has cited the importance of a team effort in winning titles, taking Alonso’s career trajectory into consideration. The 26-year-old has then praised the Spaniard for his consistent ability and pace on the track.

Fernando Alonso is on a poor run of form this season, having scored only 45 points across 13 races. The two-time world champion is however, determined to bounce back. He will be eyeing a fruitful result at the picturesque the Spa-Francorchamps racing circuit this week.
