Carlos Sainz has been racing for Ferrari since the 2021 F1 season. However, this year in January, the Maranello-based team announced a significant change by revealing that Lewis Hamilton would join them from 2025. This unexpected move indicated that Hamilton would replace Sainz, partnering with Charles Leclerc. Despite this, the Spaniard has no resentment toward Ferrari.

Carlos Sainz is known for his calm and composed nature. After acknowledging that he will no longer drive for Ferrari after the current season, the news somewhat hurt the Spaniard. Sainz came in as a replacement in 2021 for 4-time world champion Sebastian Vettel.

He stated that Ferrari also has no hard feelings about removing him for Lewis Hamilton. He explained that their relationship remained intact not because Maranello was unhappy with him, but due to conditional factors. It was understandable to Sainz that Ferrari would want a seven-time world champion like Hamilton on their team.

I have no bad words for Ferrari, I don’t think they have any bad words for me either. It is not a relationship that has broken down because we are not happy with each other, but because of a circumstantial cause.

Carlos Sainz told AS

Sainz believes that if Hamilton hadn’t chosen to finish his career at Ferrari, he would have been offered a contract renewal. Beyond the impact on Sainz, the Briton’s signing has brought major benefits to Ferrari. The announcement sparked excitement and caused Ferrari’s share prices to rise exponentially. This reflects the tremendous market value of the 39-year-old.

I remain convinced that if Hamilton had not wanted to finish his career at Ferrari, I would have renewed [with them].

Carlos Sainz added.

Carlos Sainz focused on the 2024 challenge with Ferrari

Carlos Sainz asserts that he won’t be following Ferrari next year. But he does recognize that his contributions will help lay the groundwork for the team’s future success. As things stand, he is focused on his own career and the current season with the Italian team. During the summer break, he also announced that he will drive for Williams starting in 2025.

Something from me will have contributed, but I won’t be following Ferrari’s year, my head will be focused on the present. That feeling will not exist.

Carlos Sainz expressed.

Only six races remain until Sainz concludes his tenure with the Maranello-based squad. Since 2021, he has helped Ferrari win multiple Grand Prix. The Spaniard achieved his first career pole position during the 2022 British GP. During the ongoing season, Sainz won the Albert Park event, securing crucial points for the team in the standings.
