Carlos Sainz ‘encouraged’ with Ferrari’s pace after defeating Lando Norris for P2 in US GP Sprint
Carlos Sainz capitalized on Lando Norris' late lockup to secure seven points for the Maranello-based team.

Ferrari secured P2 and P4 at the recently concluded 2024 United States GP sprint race. Carlos Sainz made a skillful overtake on McLaren’s Lando Norris to finish in second place after starting the 19-lap dash from P5.
Carlos Sainz is set to join Williams Racing next year after spending four seasons with the Maranello-based team. The Reds have had mixed results for the better part of the season despite winning three races.
Sainz was, however, pleased with the pace of his SF-24 for keeping up with Lando Norris‘ McLaren in the sprint race. The 30-year-old is hopeful of the team’s chances for the rest of the Austin weekend.

Sainz has secured a total of 190 points so far for Ferrari this season. His resilience in performing wholly for his team has been widely appreciated by many. The Spaniard will look to continue this form, hoping to end his tenure with the Reds on a memorable high.
Charles Leclerc admits battle with Carlos Sainz affected his sprint race chances
Charles Leclerc failed to perform as well as his teammate Carlos Sainz in the sprint race. Leclerc and Sainz battled it out for a better finish pretty much during the whole of the 19-lap race.

Charles Leclerc has claimed that he and Sainz had a different approach to the tire strategies during the sprint race. He ultimately concluded that the Spaniard’s strategy worked better than his sharing no hard feelings with his teammate.
The two drivers’ nevertheless appear confident of their chances given their performances around the 5.513 km COTA circuit. The hopes of Ferrari now rest on their shoulders as Formula 1 heads into the final leg of the 2024 season.
